long live @zerofoxbne ! a whole decade of beautiful service - more than enough time for their fiddle leaf figs to envelope the venue and become behemoths in their own right. i've adored coming to zero for the last ten years, so i was particularly honoured to be commissioned to design a work to celebrate 🦊🌕🍷🪴
i've been in and around hospo for the last 20 years, and i consider myself so lucky to have been making art and designing in the industry for more than half that time. the other day i counted it up, i've worked with over 30 breweries, wineries, distilleries, bars, cafes, roasters, restaurants, distribution companies, festivals and also the @craftypint who i've named because i can't work out an umbrella category for them - you're just that unique, James!
ANYWAY i love working with people who also think that AI art is bullshit, and who value and respect MY RIGHT to spend 1000 hours hand illustrating work for them! thank you for letting me live my truth (RSI)!!!
in april last year i travelled to the deep south to watch the very cute crinkle cut leaves of our only native winter deciduous species turn different colours. it was extremely worth it and you should go searching for it this year if you can - i went at the end of april and hiking cradle and mt field for this specific purpose kicked ass. this sounds like a tourism ad and it's absolutely not BUT in saying that hello @tasmaniaparks , alongside these i took about 5 billion photos of the fagus last year let me know if you'd like to use any I WOULD LOVE THAT

i’ve been collaborating with @wilderness_aus this year, creating illustrations for their incredible citizen science sector Watch On Nature and additionally for a landmark legal case where they took the environment minister to court for inaction and WON. some backyard snaps of the merch you can now purchase on their website so they can continue keeping an eye on deforestation, holding the government accountable and just generally giving a huge shit about the environment and all our beautiful (and critically endangered) wildlife 💚💚💚
@wilderness_aus are rightfully taking the environment minister to court for neglecting nature, and i am stoked to have provided illustrations for fund-raising merch and general awareness. the team has masterfully turned my illos into some beautiful stickers and shirts!
the designs feature Carnaby’s Cockatoo, Ngolyenok in Noongar language, and the Greater Glider, Pan’ka in Ugarapul language.
both populations of the species have plummeted (the glider >50% and cockatoo ~50%), and to this day there are no current federal govt recovery plans. these are only two of the many critically endangered native animals that have no such legislative plans in place - the literal job of the environment minister (they’re actually useless?).

I know a posting on social media can feel like preaching to the choir or shrieking into the abyss, but this election is really important so here’s Lou and I walking from my rental property in @mchandlermather ’s electorate of Griffith to Brisbane City Hall so I can vote for him and the @australiangreens . Big shout out to hardworking angel @grugstanirl who looked after Lou while I was off participating in the democratic process!

This is my first election since gender affirmation surgery, it’s my first time voting for my own future because now I know I have one. Big week for everyone, lots of love to the lot of ya 💚💚💚
this week has sat heavy on the hearts of the trans community, both in QLD and nationwide. almost 500 kids under 18 in this state have now had their access to life-saving healthcare stripped away.
a part of me feels like my life didn’t begin until i had top surgery. looking back in therapy, i knew my body wasn’t right even as i started high school but i had no tools to articulate it then or throughout my 20s. somehow i held on for an impossibly long time, though the burden cost me relationships, jobs, happiness, understanding. i held on, but without access to gender affirming care, a lot of people don’t and that breaks my fucking heart.
show up for your trans friends, we’re really tired and we need your help. the discrimination doesn’t and won’t stop at us either, look at the national and global political climate. every day the vice is tightened on all people, on their bodies, minds, livelihoods. apathy is our enemy, fix your hearts or die.

today marks one full year since getting top surgery. it was made possible by a whole community, our community, and i wouldn’t be alive without it! to all those who donated to the Go Fund Me (an incredibly fast and wild ride that i still can’t quite believe), i’m so deeply grateful to every single one of you.
i didn’t take many photos during those first few blurry weeks of recovery. i wish i did, but i also love the simultaneously cursed and cute snapshot i do have.
