Bev has recently started working with genU Occupational Therapist Natalie, with a focus on supporting her safety and independence at home. Together they’ve been looking at equipment and home modification options that can help Bev keep doing the things she enjoys. One of those things is her beautiful knitting. Bev loves creating small, knitted owls and gifting them to hospitals, clinics and others in the community. Each one is made with care and comes with a special message: “I’m not lost but all alone. If I make you smile, please take me home!” — Nana Bev Bev looks forward to continuing to donate her handmade owls through genU, spreading comfort and kindness one owl at a time 🦉 Our Occupational Therapists work alongside people like Bev to support independence, wellbeing and participation in everyday activities that are meaningful to them. We currently have immediate capacity for both CHSP and NDIS Occupational Therapy referrals. ✉️ [email protected] | 📞 1300 558 368

Identity shapes how we experience the world, and at genU, we are committed to valuing and respecting each person’s identity. Drawing on this as our foundation, our theme for International Day Against Homophobia, Biphobia and Transphobia (IDAHOBIT), on 17 May 2026, is Affirming Every Identity. Affirming Every Identity highlights the importance of creating environments where all people feel safe, respected and supported to be their authentic selves. It encourages us to value and celebrate the diverse identities within the LGBTIQA+ community, while recognising that inclusion is shaped by our everyday actions, language and behaviour. Affirming Every Identity means respecting difference, challenging discrimination and biases, and embracing authenticity – actions inherent to who we are at genU. #AffirmEveryIdentity #IDAHOBIT2026 #genU #InclusiveWorkplace

A huge thank you to the incredible teams from @coulter_legal , @morrisfinance and @harcourtsgeelong for spending the morning alongside our talented Drama Stars participants 🎭✨ Together, they rolled up their sleeves to create colourful props and decorations that will help bring this year’s mid-year performance to life. But the day was about more than just craft and creativity. It was about connection, inclusion, shared experiences and enjoying time together. From sharing ideas to encouraging one another, every moment helped create a welcoming space where everyone could get involved and have fun. We’re so grateful to our corporate volunteers for helping make the day so special and for supporting our Drama Stars as they prepare to take the stage.

At genU we love it when our participants want to share their stories. Samuel was very keen to be a part of our Mixx FM campaign in Colac. He’d been practising his speech the night before, in preparation for his recording and was a natural in the studio. Listen to Samuel and his experience at genU and thank you to Mixx Fm for making Samuel feel so welcome. @mixxfmcolac #inclusivecommunities

Meeting people where they are at is what our Gamer team did when setting up a creative stall at CollectFest, tellling creatives, collectors, gamers and pop culture fans all about this very exciting and unique genU program. Our space showcased genU Gamer’s mix of video games, role play, trading cards and creative hobbies, highlighting how shared interests can be a powerful way to build confidence, friendships and social skills in a supportive environment. For participants, attending events like CollectFest goes beyond just showing up. It’s a chance to engage with the public, explore passions in a real-world setting, and feel a genuine sense of inclusion within a community that shares their interests. A big ‘Thank you’ to everyone who visited the genU Gamer stall and connected with us on the day. Gamer is available online or in person and can be accessed through NDIS plans. Did you know that our genU participants gather around the mic to ask the big questions? Recently, our CEO Chelsea joined hosts Matt and Lindy, and a group of keen interviewers, Janet, Rosie, Angus, Shannon, Lynn, David and Russell, for a lively and insightful chat. They didn’t shy away from asking the boss some hard-hitting questions. A standout moment came when Chelsea delivered some exciting news to Smooth FM superfan Lynn, who’s dreamed of meeting her favourite presenter, Mike Perso, for as long as she can remember. Tune in to the full interview on our YouTube channel to hear the big reveal and get to know Chelsea a little more.

genU hits the green as the charity partner at the @smoothfm915 Melbourne Golf Day ⛳ Hosted by Smooth FM’s very own @camerondaddo , the day brings together 80+ players for a relaxed round of golf with real impact, as golfers chose to dig deep to support genU. Not only did our genU team get to host a hole-in-one competition, but Vic State Manager Barb Cronin also shared highlights from our proud 70+ year history while @genu_training provided an exclusive training package as part of the day’s silent auction. Represented by Karla Shand and her team, Jaymee and Matt, genU Social Enterprise team got to showcase popular genU products such as locally made jams and chutney. What a great day we’ve had thanks to our impactful partnership with @nova100 . Daryl has welcomed two very special new additions to his home in Warrnambool, Pixie and Honey 🐹💛 After recently choosing his own pet guinea pigs, it’s clear just how much joy they’ve already brought. Growing up on a family farm, Daryl has always been surrounded by animals, helping his dad care for them and learning what it takes to look after them well. Now, he’s taken the lead in caring for Pixie and Honey, making sure they’re fed, have fresh water and plenty of love and cuddles. It’s a role he takes great pride in, and a wonderful example of building independence through everyday routines. Moments like this show how personalised support in disability accommodation can create space for people to reconnect with what they love, develop new skills and feel truly at home. 💙 Interested in supported accommodation options? 📧 [email protected] | 📞 1300 558 368
