World Autism Awareness Day At genU, World Autism Awareness Day holds special meaning because we have the privilege of working alongside people with autism every day. Through our disability support, employment services, training courses and community programs, we see the creativity, individuality and strengths each person brings, and the many ways our communities are enriched by this. This year’s theme, ā€˜Autism and Humanity - Every Life Has Value’ reflects the heart of what we strive for at genU. It speaks to our deep commitment to uplifting the voices of people with autism and celebrating the diversity they bring to our communities. We continue to challenge outdated narratives by promoting an empowered approach - one that recognises people with autism as experts in their own lives and honours the diverse ways people thrive. People with autism contribute profoundly to workplaces, culture and community life. Their perspectives help shape a more inclusive and vibrant future for everyone. On 2 April, and every day, genU proudly stands alongside people with autism in championing acceptance and celebrating neurodiversity.

genU Training was proud to support Workskil Australia in celebrating International Women’s Day by providing coffee for participants and staff. It was a wonderful opportunity to create a space where people could connect, reflect and recognise the incredible women within our community. International Women’s Day is an important reminder of the power of empowerment, inclusion and opportunity. Through genU Training, we see firsthand the strength, resilience and determination women bring every day as they build new skills, pursue careers in the care sector and work towards meaningful employment. As part of genU, we are committed to supporting pathways that help women gain confidence, independence and the skills needed to thrive in the workforce. Partnerships like this highlight what can be achieved when organisations come together to support and uplift their communities. A big thank you to the Workskil Australia team for creating such a welcoming and inclusive environment, and to everyone who took the time to celebrate, share stories and champion each other.

The training really is better with Hungry Jack’s šŸ‘ Last week, genU Training had the pleasure of delivering a hands-on hospitality program in collaboration with Hungry Jack's, and what a success it was. The program supported a group of motivated young learners to build real-world skills, confidence and workplace readiness. From practical tasks to assessments, the cohort showed incredible dedication and professionalism throughout. A huge shoutout to our TNI Coordinator, Melissa Birkbeck, who spearheaded the entire program. Melissa not only coordinated every moving part behind the scenes but also delivered the training herself. Her passion, energy and commitment set the tone for the whole experience, and it showed in the outstanding results achieved by our students. Hungry Jack’s were fantastic partners, providing authentic in-store materials allowing students to recreate classic menu items and truly experience what it feels like to work in a fast-paced hospitality environment. We were also fortunate to have a team member speak directly to the cohort about workplace expectations and pathways into the Hungry Jack’s family. Congratulations to all students who completed the program, we’re incredibly proud of you and can’t wait to see where your careers take you.

ā€œDon’t stop believing in yourself.ā€ For five years, Litsa Deris has been empowering learners across Victoria - helping them build confidence, practical skills, and real pathways to meaningful careers. As a dedicated Trainer & Assessor, Litsa has seen firsthand how small, consistent steps can completely transform someone’s confidence, skills and career pathway. Her advice is simple but powerful: ✨ Take it in small, manageable chunks. ✨ Little steps every day add up. ✨ Keep going - you’ll get to the finish line. This is a reminder to every current and future student that growth takes belief, persistence and support. At genU Training, we’re proud to have educators like Litsa who truly live our purpose: Education for good. If you’ve been waiting for a sign to start studying, this is it!

Our genU Training team recently attended the DEC (Disability Events Community) event in Bunbury, connecting with local disability providers and organisations. We shared how our training programs can support people living with disabilities in the region, and explored ways to collaborate to create stronger pathways for learning, skills development, and meaningful opportunities. Events like these help us understand local needs, strengthen partnerships, and ensure our programs make a real impact in the community. We’re excited to continue building connections and supporting people through accessible, high-quality training.
