Wrapping up two intense and inspiring weeks at COP30 🌿✨ Our GetDecarb team is leaving Belém energised and more committed than ever. These past days have been a whirlwind of advocacy, collaboration, and determination as we represented the communities we work with in Makassar, Yogyakarta, and Ambon. 📍 From negotiation rooms to the plenaries, we followed multiple tracks closely and contributed to the momentum that led to the adoption of the Belém Gap - a milestone we’re proud to have supported. 📣 We joined actions across the COP venue, bringing our banners and messages that reflect the lived realities in Indonesia, making sure that the voices from the ground were seen and heard. 🎤 Our highlight: a fully attended side event at the German Pavilion, where we had the chance to present our project, share community stories, and connect with partners who care as deeply as we do about a just, inclusive decarbonisation pathway. As we return home, we’re carrying renewed energy and a stronger sense of purpose. The work continues, with and for the communities driving climate solutions every day. 🌍💚 This project is supported by the International Climate Initiative (IKI) of the Federal Government of Germany. Within the Federal Government, the IKI is anchored in the Federal Ministry for the Environment, Climate Action, Nature Conservation and Nuclear Safety (BMUKN). Selected individual projects are also the responsibility of the Federal Foreign Office (AA).

Meet Marhaini from Aksi! for Gender and Ecological Social Justice Indonesia. She went to COP30 with the project GetDecarb, a project on women-led gender-transformative #decarbonisation nitiatives in Indonesia. “I came to amplify women voices from the community especially from small farmers and smaller #fisher communities, #IndigenousPeople and the urban poor. We demand that the government involves women in the decision-making process, especially the whole process of planning, implementing, monitoring and evaluation and the full stages of the project and policy of climate change.” Want to learn more about our project? 🌱✨ #TransisiEnergi #GetDeCarb #PerempuanPemimpin #AdvokasiIklim #KeadilanEkologis

We often talk about reducing emissions, but do we overlook who is impacted the most? At the Women for Gender Transformative Decarbonization FPAR Outcomes Workshop in Makassar (January 6-9, 2026), we proved that women are not merely objects of policy. Grassroots women hold the key to real climate solutions. 🗝️🌿 Through the Feminist Participatory Action Research (FPAR) approach, women in Makassar, Yogyakarta, and Ambon have transformed challenges into concrete initiatives. A green future must be equitable and just. It is time for local voices to shape strategic policies! ✊🌏 This project is supported by the International Climate Initiative (IKI) of the Federal Government of Germany. Perempuan berdaya, iklim terjaga! [EN] The WGC intersectional group was present at COP30, and here we highlight some of the actions carried out during the two weeks of the conference. We know there is still a long way to go before our community is mentioned in official texts, but we celebrate all the work achieved. These were historic moments for the LGBTQI+ community within the UNFCCC. At the link in our bio, you can watch the recording of the press conference and read the full ECO article. We continue the fight, reaffirming that there is no climate justice without intersectional justice. Babitha PS, member of the Facilitative Committee of the Women and Gender Constituency, cofounder of Menstruation Matters, Kerala, and part of the Not Without Us! Project, spoke on behalf of the WGC at the Kick Big Polluters Out press conference: “Our constituencies, consisting of women, Indigenous leaders, LGBTIQ+ individuals and frontline communities, are once again outnumbered eight times by lobbyists who are representing the very fossil fuel system we are working to dismantle. This COP is presented to us as the COP of implementation of the Paris Agreement, as the most inclusive COP held in the heart of the Amazon, on Indigenous, sacred land, in a region whose people have safeguarded life for generations. But what we are presented with is an illusion of inclusion and justice, while in reality we are getting false solutions and dangerous distractions. Big polluters must stop being able to write the rules of climate action right now - we  demand an end to corporate sponsorship. There is no climate justice with polluters in. There is no climate justice without Indigenous People’s rights.” #climatejustice #genderjustice #notwithoutus #cop30 #feministclimateaction #kickbigpollutersout #kickthesuitsout

🌈 Together with the Intersectional Queers Working Group of the Women & Gender Constituency, Elena Georgiadi from LIFE e.V. spoke at the “Queer Intersections for Climate Justice: Demands and Progress for COP30” press conference at COP30 in Belém, Brazil. She highlighted the specific vulnerabilities LGBTQ+ people face in the Balkans and Mediterranean during climate emergencies: “If your family home isn’t safe because of your sexuality or gender identity, where do you seek refuge during a fire? The climate crisis does not check our documents before it arrives… Our invisibility in policy documents is not inevitable; it is a choice. And choices can be changed.” Elena called for explicit recognition and protection of queer realities in all climate policy texts. 🏳️‍⚧️🏳️‍🌈 Watch the full press conference here: https://unfccc.int/event/out-for-sustainability-queer-intersections-for-climate-justice-demands-and-progress-for-cop-30-0 #climatejustice #genderjustice #cop30 #queerresistance #lgbtiq #greece

Feminists worked at #COP30 to ensure the delivery of a nine year Gender Action Plan! “Today, feminists rejoice. In the Belem Gender Action Plan, we have a framework of 27 activities that can lead to action that centers gender justice. The efforts of the Women & Gender Constituency are evident here, in such concrete wins - from guidelines on women environmental defenders to key entry points to care, violence against women and health and avenues, activities that enhance coherence across negotiations streams and bodies and that drive national-level implementation. In a moment when we seem to be losing so much, there is so much beauty in the collective work that drove so much of the advocacy around the GAP, and in this final result. This GAP, however, will only be effective hand-in-hand with other essential advancements, including by securing a gender-just transition and the provision of finance, and the continuous integration of an intersectionality framework across the UNFCCC. There is a long way to go, and so much we could say could be better, but today, today we celebrate!” - Claudia Rubio Giraldo, Coordinator, WEDO 💙 We will never give up or give in. Here is an ode to the feminists whose tireless work got us here!

BAM! BAM! BAM! “The Belem Action Mechanism (BAM) emerges as a call made by feminists, trade unions, environmental organizations, and youth that have demonstrated the vitality of being at the table contributing to the transition we are all calling for. The creation of the BAM is a key to policy coherence; it is a bold step needed to take climate cooperation to a level that delivers for the people; it is the ambition we have been hearing so much in the rooms over the past years. Feminists have been a crucial powerhouse in the conception of the BAM. We will continue firmly standing for our rights. We will closely monitor the process to establish a BAM that benefits the population and moves us toward the implementation of the commitments agreed upon in Paris” - gina cortés valderrama, WGC JT Working Group Co-Coordinator 🌈 💜 An ode to the feminists who put the BAM in the BAM
