A beautifully moving film script by Suhayla El-Bushra and a mighty watch.
In 2023 I joined an all-female creative team led by director Nadia Fall. Together we created a bold and exhilarating story, following the lives of two young women from racialised communities as they navigate the challenges of growing up “different” in an often-hostile Britain. The design depicts the contrast between the cold reality Doe and Muna dealt with at home and their dreams of a new future. The narrative explores the depth of young female friendship as together they forge an often-dangerous path towards what they believe is a more hopeful life. Ultimately, this film is about the importance of belonging. I feel privileged to have been a part of this journey. BRIDES is in cinemas from SEPT 23rd.
