Results from my 4 glaze test mugs in the last woodfiring at @earthalchemyarts with Gyan. The little cat who isn’t so little gave me some dark, stormy results I’m so chuffed with. Lots to test and try. I’m going to use the same 4 glazes on test mugs in the next woodfiring I do to compare the difference. So many wonders to woodfiring.

1 glaze, 1 clay, 1 wood kiln, and yet, a small universe of colour has erupted from my plain Jane shino. How? Why? Again how??
❤️🔥 It was such a marvellous firing at @earthalchemyarts with the community of beautiful people, it was soothing for my crazy soul, I’m in the middle of moving & routinely driving 3 hours - unloading trailers, digging holes, moving earth then driving 3 hours back to my bed. This space where this little cat was built has been a blessing in this busy time.
The journey from building a kiln to firing the kiln is so special, I’ve been so lucky to have such awesome opportunities in participating and learning during this process. So much to learn and I’m hungry for it.
The little cat was loaded over a few days and then tonight we closed her up and gently started to warm her…watch this space for unloading
The wood fire 🔥 starts tonight. It’s nearly time to welcome little cat into the world of 🔥 with @earthalchemyarts and the crew of beautiful beings. ❤️🔥
Ooooh I cannot wait to build a new studio on my land and keep the chickens off my greenware, reclaim, out of my bags and the dogs from my throwing tools 😜🫠

Visited a wood kiln today in the northern rivers, a fabulous group have been building and I’ve helped by taking photos and providing a hug here or there 😂 mostly not asked for but I hug none the less. @earthalchemyarts is a master kiln builder and genuine lovely person, I can’t wait to move back from brissie so I can get more involved in what is such a great community of growing wood firers in the northern rivers. I’ve been mostly planting trees lately as I’m moving and have some empty land to establish, really looking forward to burning some soon 🔥🔥🔥

Working a little and playing a lot is how I roll.
A wood firing is coming up and I wanted to test a different clay for this one. I've used stoneware slip to cast my giant cow skull and used raku t clay slip to darken some areas as I loved how it behaved in the wood fired anagama @middle_pocket_pottery so many experiments to do and so much fun to have how lucky I am!

The magic of #claygulgong is hard to explain to people who haven’t been, but if I had to try, I would explain it as… “A living, breathing place of creativity, Kindness & joy, filled with people who will get you, hold you & teach you”
I have never felt like I really belong, and then I found my way to clay and subsequently to #claygulgong and that all changed. I now have so many dear friends who I love, that love me right back.
Because of @claygulgong_mansfieldceramics we get to meet up every 2 years and share the most wonderfully curated experiences, learning & teaching opportunities, the biggest belly laughs and so much joy. My heart could almost burst it is so full. Bernadette Mansfield is a treasure ✨ who I will always love for opening up such a beautiful world for me and my new and old friends. I hope everyone gets home safe, and I will see you all again in 2 years with my arms open ready for hugs and fun all over again. 💖
Huge thanks to all the Masters, the sponsors, the volunteers, the assistants and all behind the scenes and working in Gulgong. 🧡

Only at #claygulgong had the best time with such amazing people, danced a lot, sang a lot and laughed even more 😂🥰 paying for it today but that’s ok 😅😂
Another day at #claygulgong and it was a whopper, I started early a quick 6am dash to Mudgee to get supplies from Bunnings for the #clayschool show opening.
Got back to the hill to check out the progress of the work from the masters then I was off to the teachers day program, my mind has been blown a few times today, but the work being delivered by k-12 students in the region really shone out. I got to meet Angus Cheesewright from Gulgong, who is only 12 and is making amazing sculptures which I got to see today. The teachers in the arts are really doing fantastic work to nurture and encourage students and young people and I’m excited to join forces and use what I’ve learned today. Then i had the opportunity to sit with Janet Deboos who is just wonderful and kind. I checked in with Herve as his sculptures are nearing completion, Yannick as he was attaching an octopus to a giant pot, Eric as he collaborated with Andile making a vessel that will become an instrument, CJ as she was attaching out of this world but of this world forms to her work, Ruby as she was demonstrating her unique style of surface decorating with nerokomi and slip casting, and Eiair as he delicately built upon the tiniest clay sculpture I have ever seen in real life. My biggest challenge is not having the time and ability to be in all places at once, but by gosh I will try again tomorrow to do just that.
The afternoon started with 3 spectacular exhibitions opening, the masters show, the #womenwhowoodfire show and #clayschool show and each one was so incredible.
My cup is so full I don’t want to spill. And I also have amazing new cups which I can’t wait to show 😂

Day 3 of #claygulgong and wowza was it a big one.
Morning exercise and ritual with @andiledyalvane and his fabulous team who share so much of themselves and make space for and energise everyone for the day ahead.
Then I set off at a run, 🏃🏼♀️➡️ I made sure I saw where all the masters are at with their work, I watched @janet_deboos give a presentation that blew my socks off, went to the opening of the emerging ceramicist exhibition at the pioneer museum, caught the throw down at the pub, watched @cjjilek presentation that opened a whole new world of surface exploration to me, felt so much love for John Neely from @owenryeceramics and @cjjilek , had some dinner, had some shots, laughed a lot and then saw @keithbrymerjones talk and laughed even more and nearly cried again. It’s been a whirlwind, it’s inspiring, humbling and tiring walking/running that hill 😂🏃🏼♀️➡️ but gee I can’t wait to wake up to do it all and more tomorrow.
