A true legend of jazz bass, Gerald has performed with an astonishing amount of jazz icons including Art Blakey’s Jazz Messengers, Dexter Gordon, Elvin Jones, Roy Hargrove, Wynton and Branford Marsalis, and McCoy Tyner, for whom he served as Musical Director of the McCoy Tyner Trio for 14 years. Gerald carries the knowledge passed on to him by legendary bassists Ray Brown, Sam Jones, Ron Carter and Buster Williams and continues the legacy by conducting master classes throughout the U.S. and Europe.
He is currently Jazz Bass Instructor at The Juilliard School

@oberlincon . Gerald’s creativity and passion is expressed not only in his music, but also in his painting. He has had many art shows in New York City and abroad including the prestigious Salerno Biennale art show (Italy).
