There’s so much in this book- dinosaurs lording it up in a tropical paradise, otters the size of lions and giant mammoth-eating bears.
I’d also highly recommend the original version for grown up readers too- it’s a mind blowing journey. You’ll never look at earth’s natural history in the same way again. It was an incredible project from start to finish and I hope I’ve captured some of the original’s magic in this children’s adaptation 🦣🦕🪶🐍🐒🐟

Seeing as it’s #nationalmarineweek I thought I’d post another whale illustration. The twist being that this particular whale no longer exists.
Livyatan Melvillei was a Sperm Whale relative that swam the ocean roughly 12-13 million years ago. It had the largest biting teeth of any known animal. It’s also very possible that this whale hunted the other bitey sea predator of the day, Megalodon. Its name honours the author Herman Melville, writer of Moby Dick.🐋🦈🦷
