Nudge left this morning, lying between us on his favorite blanket and surrounded by love. We provided everything he needed but his body simply couldn’t stabilize. Nothing I say can capture the immense sadness we feel. The only relief is knowing he is no longer suffering.
He was silly, bright, careful, playful, and so damn happy. He slept in every morning and ran wild through our meadow every evening. I will forever cherish the other people and animals he connected me to. My life is so much better because he was in it.
I waited 30 years to get a dog and never did I think the time with my first could be cut so short. But it was the best four months of my life. It was amazing to see him grow and thrive. We are lucky to love him. We will miss him endlessly.
To everyone who donated, prayed, cared for him, encouraged us — thank you. We were never forced to make treatment decisions based on cost alone. We are so lucky to have had that space. We will forever be grateful to the folks at Eagle Rock Animal Emergency who gave it their all and guided us gently and throughly through this nightmare.
I encourage you to read up on Immune-Mediated Hemolytic Anemia in dogs if you’re curious. I hope one day we can find more answers, and more dogs can recover to live out the beautiful lives they deserve.
It’s been a year since we were in the final days of production on Knives Out and I still haven’t found the words to adequately express my gratitude.
I owe an immense debt to Steve Yedlin and the rest of the camera team that I was so fortunate to be a part of.
The joy and kindness expressed daily by everyone involved: Rian, cast, crew, translates immediately to the screen. And if Steve is to be believed (he is), it was as good as it gets.
Thank you, @steveyedlin@schroerdan@deenmasheen@shuteyedaniel@f_zilla@toshapalani@terrence_hayes , Dale Myrand and of course, Rian.
