Happy news! The American Horticultural Society @ahs_gardening just announced its 2026 Book Award winners, and Gardens of Texas received an Honorable Mention. ✨ The AHS awards are among the highest honors for garden books in North America. Of the 40+ nominated books for this year’s awards, only 2 winners were selected, plus 2 honorable mentions. So I’m truly delighted to see Gardens of Texas get a nod among the deserving winners. Thank you to the AHS Book Awards Committee! I wrote this book to shine a spotlight on Texas gardeners and all the creative, gorgeous, resilient gardening they’re doing in a challenging, changing climate. I wanted to tell their stories, inspire my fellow Texans, and show how we can all learn from their designs, plant choices, and practical approaches. It’s gratifying to see those efforts recognized at a national level. A huge thank you to photographer @kennybraun for capturing the gardens so beautifully for @gardensoftexasbook . His gorgeous work is featured in this reel. Thanks also to my editors and the whole team at @timberpress for their support in bringing my book idea to life so beautifully. 🙏🏻 Gardens of Texas wouldn’t exist without the gardeners and designers who so generously shared their gardens and stories with me — thank you to each one of them. And finally, a giant thank you to the book’s readers, cheerleaders, booksellers, and event organizers. Your support of the book has meant the world to me. 💚📚🌻 . . . . #ahsbookawards #gardenbook #texasgardening #texasgarden #climateresilience

Y’all, I’m 1 review away from 50 reviews on Amazon for my book Gardens of Texas. Every review helps keep the book visible in the algorithm, and it’s spring and I’d love for folks to find my book if they need gardening inspiration or just some Texas beauty to enjoy on a rainy day. 🌻🌧️🌈 If you’ve read the book and have a moment to leave a quick review on Amazon — nothing fancy, just your honest thoughts about what readers can get out of it — I’d really appreciate it. Thanks! @gardensoftexasbook @timberpress . . . . #gardensoftexasbook #texasgardening #texasgardens #sustainablegardening #texasplants

One of the best features of Austin’s fabulous Central Library is its gift shop, the APL Store. Yes, a library with a gift shop! ✨And y’all, they are carrying my book! ☺️📚🌻 I popped over yesterday to sign their stock, so you can get a signed copy there for as long as they last, while also shopping their fun book-lovers’ gifts, cards, totes, pins, tees, and more. There’s a single embroidered-flowers ball cap I almost bought and may have to go back for. 🌸 The APL Store is just one reason to visit Austin’s Central Library. It’s in a magical @lakeflato building with a giant grackle cuckoo clock, a rooftop garden, a reading porch, a kids’ exploration space, books galore (OF COURSE), and a view of Lady Bird Lake. It makes a wonderful outing to explore Austin whether you’re a local or a tourist. There’s parking in a garage below the library, and a few more spaces across the street. You can also walk across the Butterfly Bridge afterward (toward downtown) and see an incredible owl sculpture there, Kempelen’s Owls. Google for my blog post about it. 🦉 Happy reading and exploring! @gardensoftexasbook @timberpress @austinpubliclibrary . . . . #austinpubliclibrary #austincentrallibrary #gardensoftexasbook #austintexas #texasbooks

This morning I participated in the Nature’s Narrative author panel at the @hillcountrylitfest . Held at @mfplibrary in Bulverde, the panel featured @avrelseale (author of The River Nuts) and David Ladensohn (author of Fly-Fishing with Leonardo da Vinci) and was moderated by Lore Arnold of @writersleagueoftexas . Thank you to everyone who came to listen, buy a book from @nowherebookshop , or chat afterward. Thanks to Hill Country Literary Festival for inviting me. And special thanks to Lore for the thoughtful questions and to Avrel and David for musing with me on our transformative experiences in nature and on writing. It was fun! @timberpress @gardensoftexasbook . . . . #gardensoftexasbook #naturebooks #texasnature #newbooks #bookfestival

I discovered a fabulous new bookstore (with a wine and coffee bar!) today in East Austin — Vintage @vintagebooksandwine — and was delighted to see that they’re carrying my book @gardensoftexasbook 🎉📚🌻 Owner Jean Buckner and her shop are supporting authors while creating community for readers. Her absolutely charming bookstore is in a 142-year-old building on E. 11th Street, with lots of comfy couches and reading nooks, places to put up your feet while you read with a glass of wine or cup of coffee or tea. 🍷☕️ If you haven’t visited yet, I highly recommend it. Thanks for a fun hang and book shopping, Vintage! And @dianasdesignsaustin I’m so glad you recommended it. ✨ @timberpress . . #vintagebookstore #austinbookstores #gardensoftexasbook #newbooks

Made a day trip yesterday to Gruene for live music, strolling, sipping, and shopping and found my book all over @hdgruenemercantile , a beautifully curated new store in the oldest building in town. What a thrill — thanks, @hdgruenemercantile ! 🎉 If you’re looking for something fun to do over spring break, consider Gruene (pronounced Green). It has the most famous old dance hall in Texas, cute shops, river tubing, a new putt-putt course, wine shops, restaurants including the @gristmillriverrestaurant , and more. . . . . #gruenetexas #gardensoftexasbook #texas #texasshopping

This is how Bell County does it! 💪What a turnout today in Temple, Texas, for the inaugural Spring Garden Forum hosted by Bell County Master Gardener Association @bcmga1998 . I was thrilled to present “Gardens of Texas” to a fantastic crowd of about 100 gardeners. The icing on the cake? My friend Natalie @ninjatheplant gave an inspiring introduction about how gardens nourish us, body and spirit.✨They sure do. And so do gatherings like this one.🌱 Thanks so much for inviting me to present, @bcmga1998 - and a big thank-you to everyone who came out to listen and check out my book! 💚☺️📚🌸🌿 . . . . #gardensoftexasbook #bellcountygardening #templetexas #texasgardening #texasgardeners
