🥳 WHEN THE LIGHT RETURNS is out today!!!!! 🥳 ☀️ I am so very proud of this book, and beyond honored to have gotten the chance to finish telling the story begun in WHILE THE DARK REMAINS. ☀️ I set out to write a Big Dark Important Serious Sequel, and while there’s definitely some darkness and peril in LIGHT—and a villain who’s, if not WORSE than Kallias, at least on par with him—I kinda ditched the Big Serious Sequel vibes to follow my heart, and LIGHT ended up being primarily a story about love and hope and clinging to the light for all you’re worth in the face of looming darkness, and I also might’ve employed A VERY FUN TROPE that I can’t tell you about because spoilers. 😌 (You’ll know when you get there, and please DM to shout at me when you do, that’s my favorite!) Huge thanks to my agent @sarahgerton , who helped me work through the outline I didn’t use (whoops), my editors @marilynjbri and Lindsey Faber for all their wonderful insight, cover artist @dcurtisstudio for the sequel cover of my dreams, and my author friends near and far, especially writing groups The Thing With Feathers, The Pod, and the Panera Writing Friday crew for getting me through this book from first draft to final! ☀️ RELEASE DAY SURPRISE ARTWORK REVEAL!!! ☀️ You guuuuuyyyyyysssss I am absolutely beside myself to share this GORGEOUS Ballast & Brynja artwork commissioned from the one and only @oblivionsdream ! LOOK AT HOW PRETTY!!!! I am obsessed with every single detail—Dezaray did SUCH a phenomenal job bringing Ballast & Brynja to life!!! Ballast’s black and white hair and his blue eye, Brynja’s freckles, the colors and the lighting (the sun!!) and the Sea of Bones in the background!! I can’t stop staring at it!! These characters have been with me for nearly a decade now, and it’s amazing to see them so stunningly depicted as their story comes to an end!! 😭😍🥹 Hope you all love this artwork as much as I do, and for those who come to see me at one of my events coming up, I plan to have prints to share!! 🙌🏻 Thanks again to Dezaray for her fantastic work, and for fitting me in at the last minute!! Huge thanks to everyone who came out to the LIGHT launch party last night!! Had a blast chatting with the lovely @kchowrites about all things LIGHT (and DARK!),—and I think we did a pretty good job keeping things spoiler free.
