In solidarity with Palestinian liberation :: Principle of Sound is a multi-channel interactive pirate radio FM sound installation on right now at FIMAV in Victoriaville Quebec. The artwork was created by our collective Resistor: Johnny Forever Nawracaj || Gambletron || and Oliver Rabba. . . It feature speakers that used to hang at my summer camp that had me standing and singing the Israeli national anthem every morning before breakfast. We modified them to give them a new life// new meaning. Standing for humanity and equality FOR ALL - against occupation land theft and genocide. We gave them more sound dynamic, turned into radios- they are the vessel for a choose your own sound scape experience. .. The sound is both abstract and not lol - made from synths and field recordings of protests and instagram snippets featuring some of my favourite well spoken antizionist Jews like @kthalps and @gabormatemd @aaronjmate @danielbmate . Principle of Sound @fimav_victo . 6 radio-speakers, multi-channel FM radio transmission Resistor: Gambletron | Oliver Rabba | Johnny Forever Nawracaj. . . Six vintage 1970s Bouyer column speakers were taken years ago from the Zionist summer camp that marked Gambletron’s upbringing. This piece reckons with formative experiences of nationalist, colonial indoctrination. Firmly aligned Palestinian freedom, the artists subvert the speakers’ original use, their work inviting audience interaction with a poetically liberatory multi-channel pirate radio transmission. We have taken these speakers modified them to accommodate larger sound dynamics as well as turned each of them into a radio capturing pirate transmissions - a symbol of resistance and freedom. We invite the viewers to activate old 1940’s elevator switches to dial into one of 18 pirate radio sounds on one of the six northern Quebec summer camp radio-speakers. A choose your own sonic adventure exploring the distortion of literally all of it !! Free Palestine !!

'Screaming at Walls' is an interactive, multi-channel radio broadcast sound sculpture. 10 channels of FM pirate radio transmit through four large handcrafted horn-speakers, each designed to activate the resonant acoustics of the concrete wall they face. Visitors select channels across four radios, mixing and matching to shape their own soundscape. The work explores charged experiences navigating ethical and political rifts, while demanding Palestinian freedom from occupation, siege, and genocide. Enclosed on three sides, facing a wall, it becomes a metaphor for infuriating conversations with family and former friends that feel like screaming at walls—yet stance rejects resignation, asserting conviction: Palestine will be free.
