“Evan’s artistic fathers are the fathers of abstraction. Ned Evans: Liquid Light, Opening Reception: May 8th 5:30 -7:30 RAM is pleased to present Liquid Light, our first solo presentation with Ned Evans. Spanning the last 18 years, the exhibition brings together paintings and resin wall reliefs that explore light as fluid, shifting, and inseparable from water. Through layered, aqueous processes, Evans’ work captures perception in motion. Ned Evans (b. 1950) is a painter and lifelong surfer based in Venice. He received his BFA and MFA from the University of California, Irvine in the 1970s, where he studied during a formative moment alongside artists such as Billy Al Bengston, Robert Irwin, Ed Moses, Larry Bell, and Craig Kauffman. Aligned with the ethos of the Finish Fetish and Light and Space movements, Evans merges the materials and sensibilities of coastal life with those of the studio, contributing to an aesthetic now considered distinctly Californian. His paintings, drawings, and resin sculptures have been exhibited at institutions including the Los Angeles County Museum of Art, Laguna Art Museum, Frederick R. Weisman Art Museum, and the Bakersfield Museum of Art.

A couple of weeks ago, we gathered for an intimate collector open house celebrating Ali Vaughan’s new work and her exhibition at the Bakersfield Museum of Art (on view through Sunday, 5/3!). Installed throughout the home, Vaughan’s work existed fluidly in the lived spaces, echoing the same sensitivity to landscape, memory, and atmosphere that defines her practice. The setting offered a chance to experience the work as it lives with collectors: unfolding slowly, in conversation with architecture, light, and daily life. As we close out the final weekend of her show, we’re grateful to share moments like these where community, collecting, and artists come together in a more personal way. This is what RAM is all about. Thank you to our hosts and to everyone who joined us. If you are interested in any of the work on display or would like to learn more about these types of events, please send us a message. @alijetv_ @thebmoa @galleryram @thebmoa

SAVE THE DATE! Ned Evans: Liquid Light May 8 — July 11, 2026 Opening Reception: May 8th, 5:30 — 7:30 RAM is pleased to present Liquid Light, our first solo presentation with artist Ned Evans (@nedevans ). Liquid Light captures the essence of Ned Evans’ work, where light is treated as fluid, shifting, and inseparable from water. Shaped by decades of looking, both at the California coast and from within it, his paintings and resin works build light through layered, aqueous processes that shimmer and distort. In Evans's work, light becomes a way of holding experience in motion, where perception itself offers a quiet form of refuge. Ned Evans (b. 1950) is a painter and lifelong surfer based in Venice. We organized a charming exhibition in our storage, specially curated for dear friends of RAM, @zachbalfanz and @havesomepatience , in celebration of their engagement party held at the gallery yesterday. The event was bathed in the color green, symbolizing growth, harmony, and prosperity, qualities we are confident will characterize their union. The presentation is varied, shifting between bountiful tablescapes, subdued olive-like abstractions where form and material intersect, subtle cosmic compositions created by repeating patterns of agricultural land, and serene celebrations of nature — works that embody both abundance and restraint. Artists include: Charles Arnoldi, Rebecca Farr, Ali Vaughan, Deanna Thompson, Mary Baum, Ned Evans, Marjorie Dow, and Vikki Cruz If you'd like more information regarding any of these works, please send us a DM.
