Fire speaks to both destruction and renewal, a legacy marked by what remains. ‘Embers’ traces that duality, holding the memory of what is lost, and what endures. 7 - 30 August 2025 8 Wood Street, Fitzroy The gallery is open Thurs - Fri, 9 - 4 & Sat, 10 - 3 Pictured: Heidi Stewart Embers, 2025 For all enquiries, please email [email protected] Photography @phamstapham @heidifairs

‘K2 GPO’ confronts the intensity of red - a colour both magnetic and uneasy. In working through its boldness, the piece becomes an exploration of tension, power, and acceptance for Stephen, allowing the colour to hold presence rather than retreat. 7 - 30 August 2025 8 Wood Street, Fitzroy The gallery is open Thurs - Fri, 9 - 4 & Sat, 10 - 3 Pictured: Stephen Robert Carlier K2 GPO, 2025 For all enquiries, please email [email protected] Photography @phamstapham @stephenrobertcarlier

The tide folds, its perpetual motion and rhythms both relentless and meditative. Rising and retreating, it traces the edges of the shore, a gesture of time itself drawn across water and sand. 7 - 30 August 2025 8 Wood Street, Fitzroy The gallery is open Thurs - Fri, 9 - 4 & Sat, 10 - 3 Pictured: Heidi Stewart Tide, 2025 For all enquiries, please email [email protected] Photography @phamstapham @heidifairs

‘Knot’ gathers into twisted loops of flowing curves, echoing the contours of Central Australia’s landscape. Woven with Stewart’s characteristic sensitivity to fibre and form, it captures the rhythm of land shaped over time, held here in a suspended gesture. 7 - 30 August 2025 8 Wood Street, Fitzroy The gallery is open Thurs - Fri, 9 - 4 & Sat, 10 - 3 Pictured: Heidi Stewart Knot, 2025 For all enquiries, please email [email protected] Photography @phamstapham @heidifairs

“Standing alone in a vast, open landscape, the structure is a striking white form, weathered and scarred by the extreme Soviet seasons. Its surfaces bear the history of snow, wind, and time.” Taraz Chair interprets a solitary bus stop in Kazakhstan with layers of plaster coloured to mimic the surrounding landscape. 7 - 30 August 2025 8 Wood Street, Fitzroy The gallery is open Thurs - Fri, 9 - 4 & Sat, 10 - 3 Pictured: Stephen Robert Carlier Taraz Chair, 2025 For all enquiries, please email [email protected] Photography @phamstapham @stephenrobertcarlier

Bold presence with refined surface textures, ‘Maya’ carries the memory of its making, a physical wrestle with timber, rewarded by flowing curves layered with etched plaster. It recalls a hilly landscape, its undulating forms guiding the eye across smooth expanses and into textured enclaves. Scored and carved, its surface echoes the quiet work of wind and rain, revealing the subtle forces that shape both land and material over time. 7 - 30 August 2025 8 Wood Street, Fitzroy The gallery is open Thurs - Fri, 9 - 4 & Sat, 10 - 3 Pictured: Stephen Robert Carlier Maya, 2025 For all enquiries, please email [email protected] Photography @phamstapham @stephenrobertcarlier

‘Untitled’ invites you to circle and wander, revealing shifting landscapes in red, pink, orange, and violet. Formed from two closed loops and one open, its structure gestures to the cyclical rhythms of nature and time, evoking autumn’s vibrant leaves just before they fade to brown. Crafted from raffia, baling twine, wool, and cotton using traditional coiling techniques, it holds the energy of the land and the patience of handwork, bursting with colour, yet grounded in the quiet memory of place. 7 - 30 August 2025 8 Wood Street, Fitzroy The gallery is open Thurs - Fri, 9 - 4 & Sat, 10 - 3 Pictured: Heidi Stewart Untitled, 2025 For all enquiries, please email [email protected] Photography @phamstapham @heidifairs

By far the largest in both scale and sentiment, ‘I Am the Sky’ anchors itself in the space with a quiet, contemplative yet commanding presence. Divided into subtle quadrants to reflect the shifting energies of the seasons, its layered textures evoke the atmosphere above us - an unseen force shaping erosion, guiding the elements, and holding the horizon. Immersive and magnetic, it draws its force from the enduring pull of the sky itself. 7 - 30 August 2025 8 Wood Street, Fitzroy The gallery is open Thurs - Fri, 9 - 4 & Sat, 10 - 3 Pictured: Stephen Robert Carlier I Am the Sky, 2025 For all enquiries, please email [email protected] Photography @phamstapham @stephenrobertcarlier

Meet the Makers of our upcoming show. A shared sensitivity to time, texture, and transformation unites the work of fibre artist Heidi Stewart and plaster artist Stephen Robert Carlier. Using grass, reclaimed materials, and layered Venetian plaster, their practices respond to the quiet forces of nature, its rhythms, erosions, and emotional resonances. ‘Beneath, Between’ invites a closer look at what time reveals, and what it leaves behind. ‘Beneath, Between’ 7 - 30 August 2025 8 Wood Street, Fitzroy Opening: Thursday 7 August For all enquiries, please email [email protected] @heidifairs @stephenrobertcarlier
