El Baile de Rico y Lola. Installation of artwork I created for the exhibition Soy de Tejas: A Statewide Survey of Latinx Art that is on view at Centro de Artes @getcreativesa through July 2. I molded crayon “tacones” for my parents,Ricardo “Rico” Luna and Teodora “Lola” Luna, to wear over their shoes to record their dance steps.

In 2025, I visited @rocha.rochelli in his studio in Laredo, Texas. Over lunch, we shared our interpretations of Rasquachismo—how, as a culture, we make do with what is available to us and transform limitation into resourcefulness. He spoke about extending that concept to mental health within our community: how we often try to carry our struggles alone, to fix ourselves, or to self-medicate rather than seek support.
Given the state of our current affairs—marked by stress and anxiety—we felt compelled to explore this idea further. That conversation stayed with me. For this artwork, we continued to unpack those themes, envisioning a space where one might pause and reflect. We imagined a sensory environment—immersed in scent, sound, and touch—inviting visitors to slow down, sit with themselves, and experience a moment of intentional mediation and care.
We were also honored to discuss our new artwork with Tomás Ybarra-Frausto, whose foundational writings on Rasquachismo have deeply shaped the discourse around Chicano aesthetics. @presahousegallery #rasquachismo #tomasybarrafrausto #chicanoart

This is the video I made for the exhibition titled #Madre_Land at Centro de Artes. My mom loves music and one of her favorite artists is Rocío Dúrcal. I made this piece to honor both my mother and father. Together they created a home full of love and beauty.
Sneak peek of new work for exhibition titled Madre_Land at Centro de Artes. Opening on October 2nd and curated by Bonnie Cisneros @despeinadastyles . @getcreativesa .
Back in 2001, I was asked to create a promotional painting for Cheech Marin’s exhibition, Chicano Now, at the San Antonio Museum of Art. It was a huge honor and I collaborated with fellow artist Lisa Alvarado. Next month I will be showing my work @thecheechcenter as part of the Soy de Tejas exhibition curated by @8190luna .
