Aussie gas is delivering record profits, just not for everyday Aussies. It’s time to change that.
A 25% tax on gas exports could generate $17 billion annually and reduce wholesale electricity prices by 15%.
A fair deal on gas is the bare minimum.

" A million Australians following my content online, watching someone explain gas, isn't a success story. It's a symptom of a government that has stopped working for the punters who elected them."
Listen to legend @punterspolitics explain to senators how our tax frameworks for gas exports are failing everyday Aussies.
New independent modelling commissioned by Future Group shows that adopting a broad-based 25% levy on gas exports could bolster the budget by $17 billion in the first year, and make selling gas to Australians more attractive, actually reducing the wholesale price of electricity by up to 15%. It's a no-brainer.

Is it finally time for a system that works for everyday Aussies, not just gas exporters?

Australian gas is delivering record profits… just not for everyday Aussies. We don’t think that’s fair.
Which is why our parent company, Future Group, took the issue up in parliament, joining a growing coalition of businesses in supporting a 25% tax on gas exports.
New modelling shows that this could:
💰generate approx. A$12-17 billion per year
⚡️reduce wholesale electricity prices by 15%
🔋help fast track the energy transition and build domestic energy security
Here’s Future Group's General Manager for Impact & Advocacy, Christina Hobbs, in parliament highlighting the importance of delivering real-world economic relief for Australians.

This war isn’t just a humanitarian crisis, but an economic one too.
As everyday Australians suffer, gas companies are racking up war time profits and the rest of us see no benefit - only higher energy prices.
