With the closing of Watering a Black Garden, curated by @artnoirco and @oscamonline in Amsterdam, I’ve been reflecting on what a special experience it was to help shape this exhibition as Art Director & Designer alongside Exhibition Designer @zo.muzi . Grateful for the artists, collaborators, and everyone who gathered with the work over these past months. Inspired by the work of the seminal artist Raymond Saunders, the garden serves as both a metaphor and sanctuary where memory and care are cultivated through intentional creativity and collective imagination. Contributing Artists. @bbiayenda @jeannetteehlers @ufuoma.essi @sheekswinsalways @rachel.marsil @1alinemotta @bernice.mulenga @nengiomuku Special thanks to @queencc + @larryosseimensah 🤎

Designing Kin—A Festival of Memory and Imagination by @kinfolktech . Grateful to have collaborated with the good folks at @thehottstudio on the visual identity, spatial, and print materials that shaped this month-long experience. Kin is a beautiful reminder of what design and technology can hold. I'm always thankful to lend my practice to a space built with so much care for its people and still charged from witnessing the collective healing and joy that unfolds when community is brought together with intention.

10 Years of Very Black 🖤 The buttons. The totes. The tees — they’ve traveled. Through hands, hearts, protests, airports, classrooms, dance floors. Each one a small ceremony — a way of saying We were here, and We still are. Each one a reminder: Blackness is not a trend. It’s an inheritance. A rhythm. A shield. If you have a Very Black piece — button, tote, tee, sticker, whatever form it took — We’d love to hear from you: 🖤 How has wearing or carrying it made you feel? 🖤 What moments has it witnessed with you? 🖤 What does it mean to adorn yourself in something meant to last — to live beyond “fashion”? 🖤 What has/does Very Black mean to you — mind, body, heart, Spirit, and/or Soul? These objects were always meant to be heirlooms — to hold lineage, to move through time as proof that we were here. Seen. Felt. Very Black. We give thanks for every soul, near and far — living and ancestral — who has carried this work with us. Those who support/ed in material ways, in prayer, in whispers we may never hear, but still feel. Your care has kept + keeps us lifted, protected, and becoming. And we still seek your support — as we continue to be among the many walking this path of struggle and beauty, acknowledging our realities — past, present, and future — and building toward the freedom our Ancestors dreamed. Our birthright. 🙏🏿♾️🖤🧬❣️🌍🫂 Àṣẹ. #VeryBlack #TheVeryBlackProject #Heirloom #AdornmentAsArchive #10YearsOfVeryBlack

It was such a joy to work with @justnfultn.studio on this set of graphics for @resourcelibrary Reading Hours at @juddfoundation next week. Swipe to see a couple detail references I pulled—one from the Judd Foundation Archive and one piece of analog library ephemera—that Justin ended up incorporating into the designs. Resource Reading Hours at Judd Foundation is free for members of @resourcelibrary . The link to register will be emailed directly to active members on Thursday, October 23rd. Identity and photography for Slowly, Surely, curated by @ofthecloth.us . This Duet exhibition @wsanyc features the tactile works of Armina Howada Mussa (@outofonesskin ) and Sebastião Hungerbühler (@seb.astiao ) in conversation. A practice in restraint, the identity hinges on the handwritten logo—one of many I had each artist write in repetition. Imperfect, textured, and alive, it embodies the creative journey itself, embracing the process of making, unmaking, and the quiet learning that happens along the way. On view through Sept. 8th 161 Water St, NYC

Happy Birthday mom. Rest easy, my Virgo twin 🤎 The year was 1994 and she had this MJB on repeat. She didn’t leave much behind in things you could hold, but in the songs, the scents, the aesthetics she moved through—I still catch her there. That’s where I feel her most.
