Emerging from Massey University, Ruohan Zhao uses design as resistance. This project challenges the quiet rituals of the fashion system, where rebellion becomes trend and individuality is repackaged for resale. Through sculptural silhouettes and a metaphorical metamorphosis inspired by the caterpillar, the work confronts consumerism, digital validation, and the illusion of choice under capitalism.
