Close-up of Amulet — a wax and concrete sculpture infused with a scent created by Lindsay West.
The body is approached as a vessel, an alchemical chamber where the soul transforms before its release. The fragrance, emerging from a gold leaf receptacle, evokes the essence of something not yet fully departed. It lingers — saffron notes bringing an ancestral warmth, grounded by earthy hints of mushroom.

Through this new series, “Vessels Between,” Sarah explores relics as a place, a link, and a channel between the earthly and the divine, conceiving the body as a mystical container: an envelope, a “vessel” traversed by invisible essences imperceptible to the senses.
Inspired as much by Egyptian cosmology (which views life on earth as a “waiting room”) as by visions experienced in altered states of consciousness, her paintings and sculptures explore fragments of bodies in flux or awaiting incarnation, where life appears as a passage to the afterlife.
The “Vessels Between” thus become these states of the body-matter, these processes, these memories that evoke the succession of mutations, the bridge to other spaces, the endless cycles of life and death, inviting us to commune with the Egyptian passage chambers …
