What car do you build when youāve had it all? From having BMW E30 M3s and E46s to Porsche GT3RS, what could you possibly build to top that? Well, a 1985 Wonder Civic of course! For most of us, leaving the Ferrari 488 in the garage and hopping in the near 40 year old Civic would be a tough ask. But one look at Brandon Merlotās EA Civic will help you to understand why that choice is an easy one for him.
I highlight Brandonās stable, past and present, because itās always awesome to see people who donāt forget their roots. Those who own cars in that upper echelon like P Cars, Lamboās, or Ferrariās, yet still have the love in their heart to restore and drive econobox Civics or sub 200 HP Integras. It shows just how universally appreciated these platforms are, and that cannot be overstated. Sure, Hondaās may be cheaper to play with in comparison to cars on those levels, but the level to which Brandonās Civic is built isnāt that much more cost effective. It is a labor of love and shows his dedication to the craft.
Brandonās EA has been making appearances lately with his recently added Mugen kit. Itās rare to see the kit in the first place, but Brandon added the best lip option for the car from Purple Speed to make the look more aggressive and a true one off. The bodywork and two toned paint job was done by the master himself,
@willywerx . A built B16 motor with Kinsler ITBs barely fits in the small engine compartment that also shares space with modernized XRP HS-79 plumbing, JRZ suspension, coil on plug ignition, and full milspec wiring. Sitting on fully restored final version Mugen MR-5ās, classic Spoon calipers provide the stopping power. Inside youāll find Mugen S1 buckets, AiM sports MXL cluster powered by AEM Infinity, and a custom welded roll bar that stands out through that giant rear hatch glass.
Though quite possible this is its final form, we wonāt get tired of seeing Brandon bring this out when life allows. And every time you do see it, just remember this man left the Ferrari at home for the ā85 Civic.
