Group Exhibition Theme: “THE PRESENCE OF ABSENCE/そこにないもの” Framework: Artists need to collaborate with someone What does it mean to sense something that is not there? This exhibition explores absence - traces, memories, and the invisible forces that shape what we perceive. All works in this exhibition are created through collaboration. Artists were invited to respond to one another, producing works that emerge from shared processes. Absence becomes a space of relation - where what is not present still leaves a trace. Presence appears not only in what we see, but in what remains unseen. My Own Armour (2025) • Jacket: Analogue pictures sublimation printed on manmade organza fabric • Dress: Recycled cotton bedsheets and pillowcases
This project uses clothing as a medium to trace my journey of self-formation.
The jacket is made from textiles created with analogue photographs taken over five years, capturing the landscapes and moments from when I left Japan and began living and travelling alone. These experiences have quietly shaped who I am today and continue to accompany me as I navigate life in London. The dress reflects the moment I stepped away from the familiar to claim my own freedom. Its raw edges and marks reveal the challenges and changes along the way, embracing imperfection as part of my personal history. Through these garments, the project explores how individual identity is continually shaped and redefined through encounters with the world. ーーーーーーーー Group exhibition “Common Sense” Organised/Curated by Kanako Shiraishi & Rina Sakurai On the 8th of November at Candid Arts Trust After six months of planning with Kanako, it was incredibly moving to see Common Sense come to life and reach so many people.
Thank you for making it such a special day. Photography by @kensei_kataoka & @k_bw_rk

Group Exhibition “Common Sense”
(Swipe for Japanese explanation) Common Sense is a one-day independent exhibition and club night uniting emerging Japanese and London-based artists, designers, DJs, and photographers at Candid Arts Trust, London. Blurring the boundaries between gallery culture and nightlife, it explores what we hold in common — shared emotions, unspoken codes, and collective energy — across fashion, collage, photography, sound, and live performance. At its core lies the Japanese concept of Kanjinshugi (間人主義), or “relational humanism.” As the word ningen (人間, “human in between”) implies, we are not isolated individuals but beings shaped through relationships with others. This philosophy values the space between self and community, seeing identity as something continually formed within connection. Based on this idea, the artists visualize the process of “building relationships.” Using a fictional third-year university student as a shared theme, each artist interprets how they relate to this figure — how they connect, and what they value in doing so. We connect through what we have in common — not just background or status, but shared feelings, experiences, and moments of resonance. Within this space, artworks and music become catalysts for dialogue, inviting visitors to discover their own sense of “common.” As a collective of peers in London, Common Sense seeks to cross boundaries once more — to connect, to form new communities, and to make those connections visible. 📅Date: 8th November, 6 pm to 10 pm 📍Location: Candid Arts Trust GF Gallery (3 Torrens St, London EC1V 1NQ) 🎟️Tickets: Early bird tickets available on RA (link in bio) Artists (A-Z): Hikaru Sato(@itishikaru ) Kaichi Terashima(@kaichiterashima ) Kota Ishida(@_kota_ishida ) Masato Yamada(@_mst.26 ) Rina Sakurai(@fsn__rn.x ) Ryoya Minami(@rrr_mnm ) 7005(@ryugo7005 ) DJ: Table From Three(@table_from_three ) Hikaru Sato(@itishikaru ) VJ: Yoshi_RTP(@yoshitsugukosaka ) Flyer design by Ryoya Minami(@rrr_mnm ) Organised/Curated by Kanako Shiraishi (@k_bw_rk ) & Rina Sakurai (@fsn__rn.x )

My individual photography work “Lost property” (as part of our group exhibition “un ◻︎◻︎◻︎ archives: 0.48”) Memories are like lost property —
they slip away without our choosing.
Even vivid ones, even those we wish to keep,
fade with time and may be gone before we notice. This work takes the form of an art book.
It gathers blurred fragments of childhood,
the sharp clarity of recent years,
and the blanks of what I cannot — or will not — recall.
Some pages are sewn shut with blue thread,
others erased with crayon,
reflecting the fragility of memory itself. * This is my first analogue photography exhibition in London after I started to take films 5 years ago just as a hobby. The works in this exhibition are deeply personal—direct reflections of my mind and memories—making this exhibition really meaningful to me. So, I would be grateful if as many people as possible could come and see it! 📷 Our group photography exhibition

Photography exhibition “un □□□ archives: 0.48” For our first analogue group exhibition “un □□□ archives: 0.48”, we — Kensei, Kanako, and Rina — will present one collaborative work alongside our individual photographs. The theme of the exhibition is “coincidence and the nature of photography”, and for our joint piece, we chose to focus on the idea of photograph as a record. In our early discussions, we asked ourselves: Does photography truly function as an absolute record or archive of reality? Even when photographing the same moment or event, the outcome changes — shaped by the photographer’s position, timing, and personal sensibilities. This variation raises the question: Can a photograph ever be an objective document? Photography is always a selective act, cutting out a chance moment from the flow of time. And analogue, as a medium, never truly disappears; it endures as a material trace. Perhaps this persistence lies in photography’s very function as a record. From this duality of selection and coincidence, we seek to revisit the question of photography’s essence — its very nature and way of being. To attack this question, we decided to be physically present at the same scene, each photographing in our own way. These images — three perspectives on one shared moment — will be brought together in a collaborative zine. Through this work, we invite viewers to reflect on the subjectivity of photographic records, and on how the photographer’s eye transforms what is “documented.” 📅Date: 11 am to 5 pm from 4th to 20th of September (The reception day: 5 pm to 8 pm on the 4th of September!)  📍Location: Tradestars Islington, Room 2.09 (2nd floor), N7 9EY 📷Photographer: Kensei(@kensei_kataoka ), Kanako(@k_bw_rk ), Rina(@fsn__rn.x ) Special thanks to: @7005.london #exhibition #london #photography #film
