The Dimensions of Dialogs (Records from sound labs)
This chapter highlights the subconscious dialogue between sound and vision. Participants are paired up to form music "phrases", and each pair of people share a pair of channels. You can choose to ignore, twist, respond to, or extend the other person's audiovisual actions, thereby constructing another dimensional "dialogue" of non-language and rhetoric.
This video is from Chapter 2 (Slot 1)of the Sound Labs in March 2025, AKI ArtEZ. It is also a reflection and extension of my sound workshop in Shanghai last year.

In March, together with @heretical_objects , we hosted workshop “耳朵搖搖 Earsquake” at @taipeiartbookfair , @chung_hsing_new_village , @1701_minibar , @cedarshanghai , @jiazazhi and @411_hz :)
In the workshop, together with amazing participants, we explored the sounds of DC motors and servo motors using a Nano board. We also explored sounds in everyday objects found in hardware stores, convenience stores, cosmetic shops, dad’s kitchens, delivery tableware, and items discovered by the participants themselves.
It was a dream-like and intense journey, made possible by the countless helps and support from the venue, the space, our family and friends, the participants, and all the people we encountered along the way. Considering that it was our first time hosting a workshop like this, everyone was incredibly kind and supportive.
The conversations truly inspired us to keep improving, and we would love to come back and make more sounds together!!

When noise meets Futurism, when the human voice first “speaks” from the screen, when Foley begins to “fake reality,” and when soundscapes start to reshape the visual, sound is no longer a secondary layer — it becomes a way of actively constructing the world.
This is an experimental online Talk combining sound design appreciation with a live demonstration.
The session will unfold in two parts: the first will be an auditory tracing of sound design history; followed by a live sound demonstration and hands-on exploration using 16mm footages shot during our ”Botanical Lenses“ filmmaking camp.

Program | A “Sound Design” Experiment

“Sound Design (SFX)” and “Music Composition” are merely different ways of perceiving sound. “Composition” organizes sound through melody and structure, while SFX delves into the microscopic levels of Pitch, Rhythm, and Texture.
Faced with the standardized limitations imposed on sound by today’s pop industry, we break down the barrier between composition and SFX through the combination of Foley and synthesis equipment, exploring how to awaken the material potential of sound and reshape the sensory texture of hearing.

Heretical Objects(@heretical_objects ) and DuctTape Collective (@ducttapecollective ) collaborate on this performance. It is built around acoustic feedback, shaped by the shifting distance between microphones and speakers between two humans — whether inside a telephone shell or within the surrounding environment. The performance also explores the bodily irritated movements as a potential intersection between human and machine, where physical presence becomes part of the signal.
