Milan, April 27, 2026 @fromm.lab@fromm.design FROMM., the design platform operating from Msheireb (Doha) and Milan (Italy) has signed a new partnership with @shjrtipark Sharjah Research, Technology and Innovation Park (SPARK) during Milan Design Week 2026.
The agreement follows the SPARK delegation’s visit to Milan to experience FROMM.’s activities across the city, including its multiple exhibitions and cross-cultural design initiatives connecting Msheireb and Milan.
Through this partnership, FROMM.Lab, the educational and talent development arm of FROMM., will collaborate with SPARK on a dedicated program focused on furniture. The initiative aims to support emerging talent, encourage creative exchange, and create new opportunities within the regional design sector.

During MDW26, Cecilia Rinaldi (@ateliernuanda ), Ismail Hutet (@ismailhutet ), and Blanca Scully (@bits.studio ) had the unique opportunity to collaborate with Joseph Grima (@josephgrima ), a leading design figure, whose guidance was instrumental in bringing their competitive entries to life.
The mentorship focused on sustaining experimental elements within a project, ensuring that the innovative spirit of their work was preserved through to the final presentation at Alcova (@alcova.milano ).

Areej Al Ghonaim’s (@areej.pdesign ) Gamid Chair is a poetic tribute to the heritage of the Ghamid tribe in Southern Saudi Arabia. Inspired by the grace of traditional women’s attire, the design abstracts the flowing movement of a veil into a curved wooden backrest integrated with natural palm fronds. By blending material strength with visual lightness, the chair transforms a cultural narrative of resilience into a modern sculptural seat.
يجسد كرسي ‘Gamid’ للمصممة أريج الغنيم (@areej.pdesign ) تحية بصرية لإرث نساء قبيلة غامد في جنوب المملكة العربية السعودية. يستلهم التصميم أناقة الأزياء النسائية التقليدية، حيث يُحوِّل انسيابية حركة الغطاء إلى مسند خشبي منحني مدمج مع سعف نخيل طبيعي؛ وهو عملٌ يمزج بين رقة التعبير وصلابة التكوين، معيداً صياغة الموروث الثقافي في قالب فني يفيض بالأناقة.

Galiyah (@galmohannadi ) and Lolwa Al Mohannadi’s (@lolwa_ja ) (@thegnlstudio ) Intertwined transforms the structural logic of traditional palm weaving into a contemporary modular system. Inspired by the rhythmic crossing of palm strips in Gulf basketry, the console and bench feature rotating and sliding components that allow the form to evolve with the space. Through dyed wood veneers that mirror natural palm pigments and brass accents that mimic filtered sunlight, the duo bridges ancestral craft with modern versatility.

Assaad Feghali’s (@assaadfeghali ) Badu is a nomadic easy chair designed for a life in motion. Inspired by Bedouin tents and his roots in the American Midwest, the American Walnut structure and textile seat can be rolled and reassembled anywhere. It is a portable ritual of home, bridging personal history with the practical needs of the modern nomad.
يجسد كرسي ‘Badu’ للمصمم أسعد فغالي مفهوم الترحال المعاصر، مستلهماً روحه من خيام البدو وقدرتها الفائقة على التكيُّف. يجمع التصميم بين خشب الجوز الأمريكي والمنسوجات المرنة في هيكل قابل للفك واللف، ليتحول الأثاث إلى رفيقٍ دائمٍ يحمل دفءَ الاستقرار وأصالة الموروث أينما ارتحل صاحبه.

Kuranoie’s (@kuranoie ) design Unfurl, is a bridge between the universal, floor-based rituals of Qatari and Japanese gatherings. By freezing the fluid motion of a sufra being spread, the table abstracts the soft folds of fabric into a stable composition of travertine and glass. It transforms a transient, shared gesture into a permanent contemporary anchor for communal life.
يجسد فريق كورانوييه (@kuranoie ) في تصميم”Unfurl” تقاطعاً فريداً بين تقاليد الجلوس الأرضي في قطر واليابان، محولاً لحظة “فرش السفرة” العابرة إلى حضورٍ ملموسٍ. يترجم التصميم تموجات القماش وانسيابيته إلى تكوينٍ معماريٍ من الرخام والزجاج، ليعيد صياغة مفهوم التجمع الإنساني كفعلٍ يتجاوز الحدود الجغرافية ويستقر في قلب المنزل المعاصر كرمزٍ للألفة والحوار.
