Starting off the night with: Crispy Caribbean Coco Bun Coconut Fried Chicken Coco Bun, Ginger Tamarind Gastrique, Pickled Summer Slaw (V) Coconut Fried Oyster Mushroom Coco Bun, Ginger Tamarind Gastrique, Pickled Summer Slaw Second Course + our favorite!! Red Pepper Curry Braised Catfish Ending the night with an amazing Banana Foster Butter Bundt Cake Everything was 10/10!

Last week @frnds.table celebrated its 3rd supper club! 🌶️ When I started Frnds Table, I didn’t exactly know what direction I wanted to take this or what I was doing at times, but I did know I wanted to create a space where people (myself included) were completely pushed out of their comfort zones; from trying new foods to making new friends. The heart of Frnds is centered around community, conversation and design, and I’ve used food as the catalyst to connect how food can truly shape us culturally. Chicago can be a hard city to navigate as a creative especially for black and brown creatives and I’m incredibly proud that Frnds Table can be one of many spaces for our community. I’ve had the pleasure of working with the incredibly talented @chefkenandrea (@midoritable.chi ) for this dinner as well as collaborating with the goat himself @larrytchogninou who put so much thought and intention and design behind the beautiful tablescape. @franagyei who came onto this project and help mold it to what you saw last Friday! Our graphic designer, film photographer and resident DJ who literally does it all and does it well @justalisa @alisas.film @wndrmuseum who opened up their amazing space for us to host this dinner! @grancoramino for the drink pairings crafted by @princesssaryah_ From the generosity and support of family, friends and strangers, I cannot imagine what @frnds.table would be without everyone who’s given time and energy to this ongoing project. Set design for @frnds.table summer dinner. 🍽🍅 Oh, I love dinners—probably my favorite way to spend time with friends. So working on this set design for 40 guests at the @wndrmuseum was truly a dream project. ✨️✨️ At a dinner table, people build bridges—one to another. Conversations spark new thoughts, which lead to new ideas, and often, new friendships.🌉🫂💫 The big idea behind the set was to create arches across the table as a metaphor for these bridges we build while sharing a meal (slide 13). The design featured a monochromatic palette: red bell pepper arches, seasonal fruits arranged like a still life painting, red candles on branded holders, and anthuriums to celebrate a "Sensorial Summer". 🌶🍎💐 Truly grateful to @awibn and @franagyei for the trust. 🙏🏽💫 Graphic/Menu Design + DJ: @justalisa 🎧 Meal: @chefkenandrea (@midoritable.chi )

Still feeling so full! Not just from the food, but from the love, energy, and intention that filled the room this past Friday. I had the absolute honor of cooking at the @wndrmuseum with @frnds.table , surrounded by art, music, and a beautiful community that made the evening unforgettable. This menu was a love letter to my roots, blending Southern American and West African flavors with a touch of South Asian inspiration. Every dish was made with heart, and it meant the world to share it with you all. Huge thank you to my incredible team.. your support, creativity, and hard work brought this vision to life. I couldn’t have done it without you, and I’m endlessly grateful to do this work with people who move with so much purpose and passion. And thank you to everyone who poured into this night — from the handcrafted details to the soulful sips, and especially to those who showed up with open hearts and open minds. An absolutely beautiful roundup from our latest dinner with @chefkenandrea (@midoritable.chi ) 🍒🌶️ Friday was a lovely intimate evening of fun conversation, full bellies and empty plates as Chef Kennedy took us on a journey of Southern American and traditional West African dishes with a South Asian twist.
