Check out these pics from Semaphore Largs Dunes Group's recent weeding day. Bags of euphorbia and fleabane weeds were removed from the dunes, giving a chance for the natives to grow.
A big thanks to all the regular volunteers, new volunteers, community members, EBS Group, Green Adelaide and Port Environment Centre.

Sorry I missed your call...busy saving the environment 🌱🦸
Even though some may think it's 'just weeding', every small action builds up to create something bigger, and long-lasting. Weeding a small patch can allow native plants in the area to breathe again, and slowly return. This new native patch can provide a butterfly, bird or lizard food or a new home. Every bit counts - think global, act local!
Do your bit on your patch, and find a local group to get involved with. Explore all the Friends of Parks and Nature groups available to join across the state, at bit.ly/joinFOPN.

@friends_of_belair_np conducted their first guided walk for 2026 last Sunday, with a good sized group despite the cool & potentially dreary weather led by Pete Raine.
Notable gems spotted on the track included:
🌼Native orchid - Parson's Band (Eriochilus collinus) and Midge orchids (Corunastylis rufa)
🪷Native Cranberry (Styphelia humifusa formerly Astroloma humifusum)
🌺 Garland lilies (Calostemmas purpureum)
🌲Native Pine (Calitris gracilis)
🦘 Stacks of skippies including a good big old
Overall, an excellent walk and looking forward to the next one in May already! 😀

Weed alert ⚠️ Caltrop (Tribulus terrestris)
Thanks to a local dog walker, two small roadside populations of caltrop (Tribulus terrestris) were recently discovered in Houghton and controlled.
There are very few records of caltrop in the Hills and Fleurieu region, and with your help we would like to keep it that way. Please report any sightings of this prickly plant by phoning our office on 8391 7500 for control and future monitoring.
Caltrop grows over summer, producing sharp spiny burrs that are spread readily after piercing tyres, shoes, and dog paws! Check out Landscape SA's fact sheet for identification tips at: hf.landscape.sa.gov.au/media/Caltrop-fact-sheet.pdf
A message from Landscape SA.
This is the extraordinary story told from the perspective of Peter Watton, on behalf of Scott Creek Conservation Park, about how nature can recover after fire. Scott Creek Conservation Park – one of the most valuable, biodiverse areas in the Mt Lofty Ranges – was devastated by a thoughtless act of arson in January 2021.
This post-fire recovery report documents how the park has regenerated and is packed full of photos, information and maps showing the immediate after-effects of the fire and how the park has bounced back.
