I spy with my little eye 👀
Do you see the stick insect camouflaging itself? To blend in with the environment, stick insects often rock back and forth as they walk. This "dance" mimics a twig swaying in the breeze, making their camouflage even more convincing!
Thank you to the volunteer who took this photo today, and to all the volunteers who helped at today's working bee!

Just a reminder that there's no volunteering tomorrow, but we'll be back Sat 21st Feb!
In the meantime, enjoy a photo of a Common Brown butterfly who were in abundance at the working bee last December 🦋
Have you spotted any around the Hills this summer?

Shout out to the Bidgee-widgee (Acaena novae-zelandiae) for getting stuck in all our volunteer's shoes! 😅 This indigenous ground cover has spiky burrs that readily attach to clothing or animal fur. It's nice to know that whilst we were weeding we were helping this plant spread!

Thank you to all the volunteers who came out yesterday!
We had a productive day, swabbing Watsonia and Blackberry bush at the front entrance of Mark Oliphant Conservation Park.
Look forward to seeing everyone next month on the 20th December 😄
