Hear the stories of Kinneil Estate - come on a free guided walk led by one of our volunteers this Saturday at 12 noon (or most Saturdays till September). No need to book, just turn up, meet outside Kinneil Museum (also open free) - all ages welcome, walk lasts around one hour. [*Please note*: there will be *no regular guided tours* inside Kinneil House this Saturday, due to a special event for @historicscotland members which is fully booked. Yesterday was National Unicorn Day! Did you know it's Scotland's national animal? Hunt for this unicorn from the 16th Century in Kinneil House's painted rooms - the house is open again this Saturday for indoor tours and outdoor guided walks! Come and discover Kinneil's rich history, and be sure also to visit the adjacent free Kinneil Museum, telling the wider story of the Bo'ness area. Looking for somewhere different to visit? Kinneil House in Bo’ness re-opens this Saturday, 4 April, for its new 2026 season of regular Saturday indoor tours (at 10am, 11am, 1pm, 2pm and 3pm) with @historicscotland plus a free volunteer-led outdoor guided walk at 12 noon. Here’s another view of Kinneil House @historicscotland when once it was a gleaming white colour. Rare traces of the house’s original 17th-Century lime harl coat can still be seen on many parts of the front of the building. The writer Maria Edgeworth described her arrival here one night in June 1823: “At last we saw the door of the real house, an old but white-washed castle-mansion...”.
