Alyssa has been a student at Midtown since Kindergarten. She exhibits strong personal and academic achievements and exudes pride for her school community. She is this year's Valedictorian and will be attending Beaumont in the fall. Have a great summer and start to high school Alyssa!

Beyond Breakthrough recently explored arts careers in Cleveland with an inspiring group of alumni. The experience included a selection of short films highlighting Black cinema at the 50th annual Cleveland International Film Festival, followed by a hands-on printmaking session at @zygotepress .

A few weeks ago, over 50 alumni and staff from the E Prep Cliffs classes of 2021–2025 came together for an evening filled with food, fun, and familiar faces.
It was a joy to see everyone reconnect, share memories, and walk the very halls where their journeys first began. The energy, laughter, and sense of family reminded us just how special the EPC community truly is.

Mockingbird is absolutely thrilled to announce our 30th round of competitive grants — 18 new grants totaling $153,870. We truly cannot believe that we have now disbursed more than 400 competitive grants (and more than 750 total grants!) for an aggregate of more than $2.75M – all with no staff, no salaries, and no office — just YOUR incredibly generous support.
Mockingbird’s newest round of competitive grants support the following programs, at schools, community centers, and non-profit organizations in 16 states. Half of the amounts for five of the grants were made possible through the generous support of the Kristy Anastasio Manning Memorial Fund (KAMMF), created to honor and memorialize Trey Anastasio’s sister. Additionally, the Mockingbird board elected to double two of the requested amounts, for Children’s Eye Foundation and Friends of Breakthrough.

Our scholars had the incredible opportunity to visit the @clevelandclinic for an immersive, hands-on experience at their state-of-the-art Simulation Center. Throughout the day, students explored side-by-side with medical professionals, gaining firsthand insight into the dynamic world of healthcare. From practicing clinical skills to observing life-saving procedures in a simulated environment, this visit provided a rare and inspiring glimpse into the daily work of doctors, nurses, and other medical staff.
This unforgettable experience served as the culminating session for this year’s Middle Schoolers in Health Careers Program, bringing together weeks of learning and exploration into one impactful day. It was a powerful way to celebrate their growth, deepen their understanding of health professions, and spark continued interest in pursuing careers in medicine and healthcare.
