2 years without you today. There isn’t a day that goes by when I don’t think of you, wish I could talk to you, hold you tight. I didn’t get to tell you all the ways your love formed and changed me and all the ways your womanhood inspired me. You were incredibly knowledgeable about the world and the community you lived in, you held so much of our family history. You held so much information about art, history, science and were always the most exciting person to travel with. You exuded class in every interaction you had, you leaned in to connect with others, especially when they were in need. Empathy and generosity were the core of your soul. You were incredibly successful professionally, had a world class mind, and could have gone on to build your career abroad. But you loved living in your community, close to yours (enjoying the wonders of Portugal) and that ultimately was more important to you. I think of this lesson often. You were a dear friend to so many people, a confidant and true support system. You were also a dear friend to anyone who came into my orbit and it’s been beautiful hearing many of my friends speak of you in that way, how you where there for them when they got married or had a baby. You touched so many people. Thank you for being the best parent anyone could hope for. You made me feel loved, safe, cared for and held in the world, what a gift to have been loved by you.

sun 18 may 2025 // this visit to Portugal was to memorialize and honor Graça with family and close friends. she is so dearly loved, cherished, missed. we spent time in Setúbal, and explored up to Douro and over to Lisboa, storytelling about Graça, about familial ties, Portuguese tradition. and oh, the food. the wine! more food! woven through it all was laughter, celebration, and togetherness. a most beautiful People. muitos beijinhos!
