[publication] “écritures & scrutinies (if the good die young, then i’ll be old & grey)”, my new booklet is out now. it represents a visual juxtaposition between two of my practices: writings existing somewhere inbetween poetry, diary-like confessions and intimate phone notes, in relation to snapshots of what the artist considers his painterly surroundings in a mostly urban context, framed and scrutinized in a systematic manner. while the pictures are an aesthetic and formal documentation containing little emotion, the texts do quite the opposite, providing a close look into the much-kept private part of a human life: one’s ruminations. this remarkable difference in subject is graphically represented by an all-over approach for the pictures on the one hand, emphasising their bold compositions, and a choice for low-contrast, soft greys for the writings on the other, helping to partly conceal them, thus protecting their shy nature. the title of the booklet “if the good die young, then i’ll be old and grey” is a wink to both contents of the book: while a blunt statement and impossible to ignore, as are the pictures, present and without excuse, it simultaneously is a phrase that alludes to the character of the writings, slightly dramatic but mercilessly honest. you can order through direct message for the cost of €20 a copy. pick-up, drop-off and post delivery are possible writings & images: @timmohesselink artistic direction: @four.slash graphic design: @four.slash prepress: @onno.els font: Helvetica Bold Neue & Gloucester Open Face format: A5 printing: @zwartopwit limited to 75 hand-numbered copies

[product] Fourslash Radio Volume 2 For the artwork of this volume, Fourslash collaborated with the Georgian artist @deasideaz , whose artistic practice encompasses photography, sculpture, painting, and digital media. The reference image for the CD cover is a digital photograph of a wild flower field found on a drive through rural Georgia, where long purple flowers, poppies and yellow blossoms blend together with the greenery to create a vibrant celebration of colour and form. After a lengthy sketching process exploring ways to recreate this scene on each CD, the artist (and we) concluded that the process from digital file to physical object should be kept as direct as possible. By printing it on the CD, that is. Each CD is unique and represents 1/25th of a the photograph. Joyful and generous, they complement the carefully curated music and monochrome package design perfectly. By purchasing a CD, you acquire an original piece of art by Dea Khalvashi, and engage in a conversation with Fourslash about design, music, and the importance of physical objects in an increasingly digital era.
