@forkandswoon and I were supposed to go to New Orleans in April 2020! It only took us 3 years for us to reschedule which isn’t too bad actually.
At least two people reached out and asked for some recommendations so here’s a recap:
We basically went to
@cafedumonde right off the plane and spent most of our first day wondering around The French Quarter and Frenchmen Street.
Snagged a bar seat
@carousellounge - which seemed much easier during the day than at night.
We got a
@centralgrocerynola muffulettas despite them technically being closed (the liquor shop two doors down sells them).
We ended up walking all the way to the Bywater neighborhood and hitting some of the shops like
@lowtimers and Bargain Center.
Last official stop for day one was the glorious
@bacchanal which very much feels like the kind of wine bar
@terraflowerfarm would run. We did also share a plate at Mother’s but I barely remember.
The second day we figure out getting Jazzy Passes for the streetcar and we rented blue bikes to get around!
We grabbed pastries
@tmbreadsandpastries and then headed towards City Park. I really wish we had dedicated more time to the park and the botanical gardens. Our main food mission was
@parkwaypoorboys - shrimp won our hearts over the roast beef.
Then I made
@forkandswoon take a cemetery tour at Saint Louis Cemetery Number One and it was kind of a perfect tour at just 45 minutes.
We had the BEST dinner at Marjie’s which is sadly closing soon, but I made
@staciebillis go while she visits her sister this month!
Our nightcap was
@barmarilou
More in the comments because apparently IG won’t let me be a try hard.
