When a build reaches the point where it’s going to be putting some serious power to the rear tires, the factory gearbox in most cases, is just not up to the task . Transmission swaps are a very common way to remedy this problem, yet swapping in a factory gearbox from another car/manufacturer can yield its own issues (gear ratios, fitment, weight etc), and for a hardcore build, sometimes a synchromesh transmission just won’t cut it . HGT’s sequentially shifted gearboxes offer offer a lightweight, ultra-precise (not to mention beautiful) solution to the problem. The incredibly strong billet case keeps everything aligned, while the super quiet diamond cut gears make this a box you can drive on the street without going deaf . Utilizing their load cell shift knob unlocks the possibility to have clutchless flatshifting, and auto-blip downshifting, and their fully adjustable bellhousing makes sure you get that input shaft centerline bang on 👌🏻 . In order to test out their new prototype UZ-to-CD00X adapter bellhousing, @fischracingtech shoehorned a 1UZ-FE VVTi into one of their spare IS300 chassis’ . After a very extensive rewire of the factory electrical system as well as a custom built engine harness to suit the @linkecu Xtreme G4+ and @ecumasterusa ADU7 display, we strapped her down to the rollers to put the bellhousing to the test . We also thought it might be fun to toss a little spray into the equation for a bit of extra abuse 😉 . Being that the stock 1UZ VVTi are not exactly known for their strength, we opted to bring the nitrous in a little bit later in the powerband, once the critical torque rpm has been surpassed 👌🏻 . This should allow for a little more longevity and a lot of smiles in the top end . After doing some last minute checks, it was finally time for @boostedbunnyz 's 2JZ swapped 350Z to hit the rollers . Suffice to say we're quite a bit ahead of schedule on the power output; 1045whp and 743ft-lbs of torque, with a killer powerband at 29si on E85 🔥 . And we haven't even turned on the nitrous yet...... 😉 . We've reached the max turbo rpm on this @borgwarnerperformanceinc 9280EFR but there's still some more power/torque to be had down low once we blend in the nitrous 🤘🏻 . This build has been a testament to how well things work when you take your time and put it together with some of the best components available .
