Announcing the Folk Lore Kent Mayhem Fair!
Step into a fabulous folkloric experience. We'll be hosting some terrific #folk acts as part of the free celebrations for Canterbury Unlocked on Sunday 24 May.
Join us in the newly reopened Dane John Gardens from 12 noon for a joyous programme of folk entertainment including music from the incredible Goblin Band and local heroes Green Diesel, #maypole workshops with Folk Dance Remixed, dancing from Bower Street Morris and guests, wyrd folk tunes from Mat Pringle DJ and #mumming and #hoodening from Trudgepig Folk Theatre. Come and meet the May giant!
An excellent May weekend with Trudgepig Folk Theatre and friends. We performed George and the Dragon in Rochester Guildhall and herded beasts through the streets at the Sweeps festival on Saturday and Sunday, then hooden-beast-bombed Whitstable's Jack-in-the-Green procession on Monday. Thanks to the dedicated organisers for all their efforts and for the lovely Guildhall museum staff for encouraging our noise and nonsense. Merry May! #Mayday #folk #hoodening #sweepsfestival @jackwhitstable

St Dunstan of Canterbury is also St Dunstan of Glastonbury - here he is in St Patrick’s Chapel tugging the devil by the nose with tongs. A unique variation on the most ancient Blacksmith and the Devil folk tale. Notice the horseshoe on the forge in the background.
This weekend's Tarot Walk is all booked up, but if you're looking for a seasonal creative wander, tickets are now released for my next #folkwalk.
On the evening of Friday 1st May, join me to bring in the May with some folklore on foot. We'll build a May garland as we wander, sing a madrigal and celebrate the start of summer.
We might even hear a cuckoo.
Spaces limited; tickets in advance only via Eventbrite - see link in bio.
Why not make a night of it and stay on at the @sandwichmedieval for music and the lighting of the Sandwich Beacon?
