🎓 S4 Opportunity: FoLAR Volunteer
As a River Crew Volunteer, students can work alongside ecologists to remove invasive species and plant native vegetation, helping restore healthy ecosystems for local wildlife. Volunteers also support community events by assisting with setup, greeting guests, and sharing FoLAR’s mission. Have a skill in photography, graphic design, science communication, or curriculum development? FoLAR welcomes students who want to use their talents to expand environmental awareness and community engagement.
Students build skills in conservation, public speaking, event planning, environmental education, and habitat restoration best practices while connecting with communities from Northridge to Long Beach.
✨ What to expect?
Students participate in a virtual or in-person orientation, receive a volunteer handbook, and complete safety training tailored to their role. FoLAR works collaboratively with students to set goals and identify meaningful projects. Outdoor activities may include lifting, kneeling, or extended time outside, and accommodations can be arranged as needed.
✨ Interested in getting involved?
Direct volunteer opportunities with Friends of the Los Angeles River are available now on the CSUN S4 Database, on the Community Engagement Linktree.
Get involved, gain experience, and help reimagine a healthier, more vibrant LA River for all 💙🌱
