This handwoven calendar is made with Japanese mizuhiki knots and natural raffia, inspired by #shimenawa , a traditional Japanese New Year decoration.
In Japanese culture, shimenawa are sacred ropes hung at the beginning of the year to welcome good fortune and create a boundary between the ordinary and the sacred. They symbolize protection, renewal, and the act of starting fresh with intention.
This piece spans January 2026 through January 2027, designed to be both a calendar and a small seasonal talisman for your home — something to slow down with, day by day.

A Tribute to Jack, Beloved Mascot of Toad General Store.
Jack was more than a four-legged friend. He was the greeter at the door of @toadgeneralstore the bringer of countless hours of joy and the quiet reminder that happiness can be as simple as a tail thump against the floor. Children reached for him with sticky hands, cyclists stopped to scratch behind his ears on their way down the bike path and regulars knew no visit to Toad General was complete without saying hello to Jack.
He had a way of making strangers into neighbors and neighbors into friends. His eyes were beams of kindness, his presence a steady comfort. Jack was, in a sense, the heartbeat of the store.
Though he has crossed the rainbow bridge, his spirit lingers in the air, paw prints etched invisibly in the dirt path leading to the store and in the memories he gifted to us.
Jack’s life was a simple lesson: to love openly, greet warmly, and never underestimate the power of showing up—tail wagging, heart wide open.
Rest well, Jack. You will always be our mascot, our sweet boy and our friend.
If you knew and loved Jack, we welcome you to visit Toad General Store during Illuminate the Night, where we will pay tribute to him with a small memorial altar. Come by, drop some flowers, light a candle and wish Jack safe passage into the beautiful meadows of the hereafter.
