Announcing our special guest! - about With over 20 years of experience under their belt, They have earned a reputation as one of Canada's top fire and flow arts performers. Fusing their passion for dance, martial arts and music, they have created their own unique brand of 'martial artistry' through years of training and dedication to their craft. A world renowned innovator in a number of unique disciplines including folding fans, rice hats, lightsabers, and the Force Leash; they continue to push the limits of what is possible through movement art and object manipulation. Teaching: ⭐️ Martial Rope Dart: They will share their philosophy on the fundamental principles of rope dart manipulation, energy redirection, accuracy, power, and chaining together skills continuously. (Which have been the primary focus of their rope dart exploration.) This includes all the fundamental points of contact with the rope dart: hands, elbows, shoulders, knees, and feet. This workshop is a great introductory course, but will also provide alot of value to more intermediate/advanced practitioners who haven't taken this course before. ⭐️ Jedi Flow (Lightsabers): Come learn lightsaber flow with a Jedi Master of Momentum and Martial Artistry. This class is accessible to all skill levels, providing foundational elements for beginners, and advanced concepts for more experienced staff/saber practitioners (including single, double, and saberstaff techniques). Martial Artistry is a holistic practice that encapsulates many different aspects of flow arts manipulation, including movement, grips, geometry, stances, footwork, throws and more. Flow Fest Seattle (June 12-14) is free to attend, but a workshop pass gets you access to our FULL roster of classes. Get ready for a real show stopper! - About @goddess423_ Sara Noelle (she/her) is a juggler from Oakland, California. She's been juggling for 14 years, and in that time she has completed two social circus tours, she's created solo and partner acts and has had the privilege to share them all over the world, and more recently she joined an international team of jugglers to organize Kunterbunt Juggling Convention - one of the first FLINTA only juggling events (FLINTA = female, lesbian, intersex, non binary, transgender, and a gender). Clubs have been Sara's primary discipline over the years, while also dabbling in hoop juggling and kendama. She is a lover of object manipulation as a whole, as it has been the gateway to understanding her own mind and self expression. Outside of juggling, she is a personal trainer, seamstress, and cat mom. Teaching: ⭐️ Club Tricks and Sequencing: This workshop will be broken into three parts. First, I will share a bunch of club tricks that I enjoy. Then I will show examples of how to tie them together and create sequences with them. Then finally, there will be a creative section where we will make new sequences using technique presented in the workshop, combined with each person's personal flavor. ⭐️ Play Kendama!: Come play kendama! I will go over beginner basics, and share lots of other fun tricks I keep in my back pocket. All levels welcome! I will have a handful of kendamas with me for new people to use. Flow Fest Seattle (June 12-14) is free to attend, but a workshop pass gets you access to our FULL roster of classes. She's bringing hoops into your life! - about @lumaflow Natale Luma didn’t choose the circle life, the circle life chose her. She became dedicated to the cult of hoops over a decade ago, and has since built a full-time life of spinning in circles & helping others do the same. As an instructor she focuses on creating encouraging atmospheres to share hoop technique, entertainment business, and stage presence development. Outside of her teaching & solo performance ventures she is the director of Cirque Cadia and board member at the Bellingham Circus Guild. To connect or follow along, find her on Instagram @lumaflow or at LumaFlow.net. Teaching: ⭐️Multi Hoop Mandalas: Make interlocking shapes with 3-6 hoops! We'll explore single shapes and morphing combinations that utilize wrapping, locking, and twisting hoops together and around our bodies. ⭐️ Serving FACE for Flow Artists: Forget what's in your hands - your face is your most important prop! Command energy & boost your on-stage charm by incorporating expressive facial expressions into your flow. meow meow meow!! - about @kat_purrington MagicKat has been in love with spinning s-shapes since 2015. She started spinning buugeng after being inspired by Gustavo Ollitta's forest buugeng video, and within a few months she had an idea to create a larger s-shaped staff. Together with a metal worker, she created the first giant s-staff and named it the Serpent Staff. Catch her in the fire circle with this unique prop. Her flow arts journey began a few years before that with her first love, poi! She has performed at Burning Man and at events around Seattle. She loves the flow arts community and serves on the board of Seattle Flow Arts Collective. Teaching: ⭐️ Buuginner Buugeng: Learn how to spin buugeng beautifully through this introductory workshop, with the potential to advance into intermediate moves. We’ll go over the three building blocks of buugeng spinning, including the wrist motion used in moves like the two beat weave and the wrist motion used in reels. We’ll cover single and double handed weaves in both the forward and backward directions, and we’ll get an introduction to the many types of reels that are possible with buugeng. We’ll touch on the third building block - finger spinning and the endless possibilities it can unlock. We’ll learn how to spin the buugeng gently in order to maximize the optical effects of the buugeng. Flow Fest Seattle (June 12-14) is free to attend, but a workshop pass gets you access to our FULL roster of classes. staff spinners in the chat!! - about @maximum.oversaiyan Circa 2017, charle(s) first picked up a contact staff at a friend's house in Detroit. Over the years, he's learned to spin one without hitting himself or dropping it... as much. Since moving west and becoming a part of the Seattle Flow Arts Community, he's also taught at Flow Fest Seattle and performed at the Evergreen Showcase. Other places you can find charle include Eastside Spin Jam in Bellevue, FlowShop in Capitol Hill, and in front of his computer. Teaching: ⭐️ Contact Staff 101: What is a contact staff? Why is it called a contact staff? Do I want to spin a contact staff? Ideally, all of these questions will be answered within this workshop as we cover some fundamental concepts like staff movement, best practices, and entry-level tricks (wrist wraps, neck wraps, and halos). We hope to have enough staves for everyone, but please bring your own if available. ⭐️Fishtails 101: What's that floaty circle they're making with a staff? Is it an important building block for contact staff? Is it a visual example of how you row a boat backwards? Is it fun to do? Yes!! Come learn how to row backwards in the air. As time allows, we can expand into transitions, tweaks, and maybe even learn how to row forward. Dragon staffs welcome! Flow Fest Seattle (June 12-14) is free to attend, but a workshop pass gets you access to our FULL roster of classes.
