“I completed men’s fashion when I was 16. I then went through a cross-dressing phase and had a very avant-garde flair. Now, I’ve come full circle and arrived at this androgynous place—a combination of powerful yet sexy, Mugler and high street, suits with sheer fabrics and lace.
To me, power means sensuality—a kind of ‘femme fatale’ attitude and aesthetic. For a long time, the only way to convey sexiness for men was with those grey sweatpants and the bulge. Boring. Fortunately, more and more designers are now applying interesting and revealing cuts to menswear pieces, too, allowing men to show some flesh.
I’m confrontational by nature—when you walk around looking like this, you kind of have to be. But in recent years, I’ve grown more tired of the stares I get on the tube. Although, most of the time, the intrigue comes from a good place, the older I get, the less I can be bothered—so I’ll just Uber it.”
