HYPHA PRESENTS “Call Incoming…”

📞 Call Incoming… takes its cue from the playground game “Telephone”, where a whispered message morphs each time it’s passed along. Made up entirely of new, bespoke works, the inception of this show began with a piece by curator Haydn Albrow, whose work was shared confidentially to the next artist to reinterpret in their own style and medium before they passed their piece onto another. The chain continues artist by artist, culminating in an exhibition that reveals how a single artwork can evolve, distort and transform through multiple creative voices.
As each piece morphs through medium, material and theme, the show celebrates the diversity of the featured artists’ interpretive lenses. While the Telephone Game is often a byword for inaccuracy or a cumulative error caused by the spread of information, “Call Incoming…” stands as a celebration of evolution of a message through interpretation and translation.
In a world of polarised discourse and remote communication where tone and nuance are so often lost in restrictive formats, “Call Incoming…” also questions our tendency to assume we have all the information we need to make a judgement. Will the artwork at the end of the chain bear any resemblance to the initial piece?

Fabulous news yesterday 🎉 ‘Dusk till Dawn’ has been selected for the first round of Jackson’s Art Prize 2026 @jacksons_art_prize
This painting was a beast - full of measuring, contrasting, mirroring, allowing elements to shift and evolve in a constant bounce back and forth to find the grounding for the composition. Inspired by spot the difference I wanted the work to be a playful game for the eyes, whilst using Renaissance perspective systems in a reimagined way. The ‘before and after’ house party diptych explores high and lowbrow culture, hedonism and the passage of time.
Thank you to the judges and good luck everyone for the next round 💫
Happy to be included in the luminous group show Moon Palace, opening tomorrow at School Gallery 🌙
Inspired by Paul Auster’s 1989 novel Moon Palace, the exhibition @schoolgalleryfolkestone reflects on the cyclical nature of existence and destiny, exploring how seemingly random events ultimately connect to form a coherent whole.
🌘 Opening: Saturday 7 February 3 - 8pm 🌒 On view: 7 - 28 February
Colin Booth / Matthew Collings / Catherine Haines / Bob Matthews / Simon Patterson / Terry Perk / Terry Smith / Mick Williamson / Fleur Yearsley
“Everything works out in the end, you see, everything connects. The nine circles. The nine planets. The nine innings. Our nine lives. Just think of it.”
