When you got your girl’s back ❤️ Here’s Olympic skater @icegirlash on the impact @alysaxliu has had on figure skating ⛸️ She’s shown that yes, this is a space for you. It doesn’t have to be cut throat. You can be joyful. You can be happy. #flamebearers #womensupportingwomen #womeninsports #alysaliu

So honored to attend media day for For the Win: Objects of Sports Excellence at the American Museum of Natural History 🏆✨ The new exhibition celebrates the artistry, history, and cultural impact behind some of sports’ most iconic prizes — from Olympic medals to championship rings spanning nearly 150 years of history. And hearing from @claressashields in person made the experience even more powerful 🥊🐐 Walking through the exhibit was a reminder that these objects are so much bigger than trophies. They represent sacrifice, resilience, pressure, identity, and the moments that shape culture through sport. From one of Jesse Owens’s gold medals to Breanna Stewart’s 2024 WNBA Championship ring, every piece told a story far beyond the scoreboard. As we head toward the FIFA World Cup 2026, this exhibit feels especially timely — celebrating how sport connects people, cities, and generations around the world 🌎⚽️ Huge congrats to curator Vikki Tobak and the entire team behind this incredible exhibition. If you’re in NYC, definitely add this one to your list 👏

The community lost family. Friends. Coaches. Mentees. But they didn’t lose their community. That was one of the many powerful sentiments shared by @dlane at Spirit on Ice, an evening honoring the 28 members of the U.S. Figure Skating community we lost aboard Flight 5342 🤍 Last week, Flame Bearers had the honor of joining this group at @chathambarsinn and the. moderating the evening at the @chathamorpheum Theater. ➡️ As someone who works in athlete storytelling, I kept thinking about how important it is to hold space with extreme care. This is always our priority, but especially so in moments of grief: to listen closely, let people share their stories in their own words and remember that behind every athlete is an entire ecosystem of parents, coaches, teammates, trainers, and loved ones who sacrifice so much for the sport they love. People spoke candidly about grief, and throughout the night there were both tears and genuine belly laughs — a reflection of the honesty, humor, and support helping this community navigate the unimaginable. ⛸️ Legendary Olympic medalist @nancyakerrigan spoke about the strength of the skating community alongside fellow Olympic medalist @paulwylie92 , rising star @patrickblackwell_ , coach @high_marks , Louann Hogberg, MBA, Jeff Handler, Doug Lane and others. They reminded everyone in the room that figure skating is about far more than competition; it’s community, family, and showing up for one another when words fall short. Thank you to @kimroderiques and everyone behind Spirit on Ice for trusting me with this role and creating such a meaningful evening benefiting The Legacy Fund. And thank you to the skating community for showing what strength, vulnerability, and love for one another truly look like. ❤️ 📸 credit Kim Roderiques 🙌 #USSkating #LegacyFund

NEW WEEKLY SERIES 🚨 Moments in women’s sports you NEED to know about that go beyond the scoreboard 🫶 1️⃣ At the Denver Summit home opener, 9-year-old Hayden Stine met @carsonpickett , who shares the same limb difference. It wasn’t about the game. It was about seeing yourself in your hero 🥹 2️⃣ On Mother’s Day, @alexmorgan13 shared she’s expecting baby #3 🤍 Watching daughter Charlie kiss her baby bump was the reminder we all needed: these icons are parents, partners, and people first. 3️⃣ The @pwhl ’s new “Break the Ice” campaign got real about mental health, with stars like @erinambrose17 opening up about anxiety. Even the pros struggle sometimes — and talking about it matters. 🫂 4️⃣ In Rome, @arynasabalenka ’s press conference got hilariously crashed by @iga.swiatek 😂 Rivalries are real… but so is friendship. 5️⃣ One fan skipped prom to watch @paigebueckers return to the court. Another young girl got to meet her idol in person. If anyone still questions the passion behind women’s sports, show them this. Because the best stories in sports? They’re usually the ones that happen beyond the final score 💥 There’s so many more. Drop your fav moment in the comments below! 👇 #flamebearers #womeninsports

Street quiz time! Let’s see how well people know their Olympic history… In the very first modern Olympic Games back in 1896, athletes from around the world came together to compete—but here’s the twist 👀 How many women do you think were actually allowed to compete? 🤔 Take a guess before you hear the answers on the street… you might be surprised!

Surreal and very fun day attending the @netflix Upfronts yesterday to talk about The 99’ers movie. Knowing our story is being put up on the big screen, and seeing how far the game has come to this day, means so much to all of us. 📸 @juliefoudy with love from @flamebearers 🙌

👀 Let’s zoom out for a second: when we look at the “sports media” landscape, we see a massive disparity: 85% of coverage goes to male athletes…so actually we’d just call that male sports coverage. ➡️Of the 15% going to women, the spotlight is almost exclusively on a very narrow set of athletes who play certain sports, look a certain way, et. (the aperture of athletes featured is TOO narrow whether we’re looking via the lens of race, ability, religion, sexuality, the list goes on…) That’s why we started @flamebearers , a women’s sports storytelling studio on a mission to spark a movement in women’s sports so girls from all corners of the world see themselves represented and their dreams within reach. To date, we’ve collaborated with over 450 Olympians and Paralympians across 55 countries, centering on the athletes’ own voices and unique experiences. But scaling a global storytelling platform means managing moving parts as diverse as the athletes we cover. @Mailchimp helps to keep the business side in focus, bringing the stories we cover straight to your inbox - exclusive behind-the-scenes content and upcoming events, enabling us to stay focused on the stories that change the narrative.
