Some memories from the last year of filming all around the state of Ohio for an IMAX documentary project about their state parks. Rad times as always with the @macfreefilms family. Lots of firsts for me on this one, including accidentally driving through the tail end of a tornado. Had a few days of chasing around and filming bald eagles. We also had a somewhat spicy hike to a beautiful lookout which we shot from the exact same location during each of the 4 seasons from both the ground and a drone, which should make for some great transitions on the final edit. And even tried pickleball for the first time on one of our stormed out days. Little late to the party but here’s some memories from our trip down to Chile and Argentina last month for @lisacal1 birthday 😊❤️ We had loads of wine, one of the best meals I’ve ever had, accidentally kind of walked into a robbery, and made friends with all the local cats we came across. How do I start this?... I struggled with the fact about posting anything at all about it. Is this the right thing to put on social media? Such a private thing to go through... A week ago today, May 16th 2024, my mom, Elsa Aracely Huezo Gomez, affectionately referred to as Mother Mendoza by me and my friends, passed away from a year long battle with an especially aggressive type of cancer. To say that I'm at a loss for words is an understatement. How can I sum up everything she meant to me and everything she did for me in just one post? But she gave me everything. All the traits I'm most proud of are directly handed down from her... She loved with her whole heart. Welcomed anyone and everyone she ever met with open arms and smiling eyes. She always saw the good in people. Never had anything bad to say about anyone. She was always sunny and positive. Even as things started taking a more serious turn, she would still try her best to smile at you. To let you know that everything will be okay. She never faulted. Cancer never broke her spirit and I'm so proud of her because of it ❤️ Life won't quite be the same from here on out, but it must go on. All I can do is try my best to honor her by living in a way that would make her proud. To spread love and kindness. Help out those in need. Laugh often and don't take yourself too seriously. She taught me that the world is a beautiful place if you open your eyes and see all the gifts lying around waiting for you to discover them...just gotta slow down and appreciate them. I'll miss you, mom. Thank you for everything ❤️
