this is abraham siegel, my great grandfather whom i am named after. he came from russia to detroit where he started a scrap metal business- siegel iron and metal co. here he is in the early days w/ a horse and cart. eventually he was known as detroit’s “king of scrap”. the scrap yard was demolished during the construction of I-375 in the early 60s. i wish we still had it. i would have loved running a scrap yard.
