Fish for Change is all about the little moments in between. Students may join for the fly fishing trip, but they return for the lifelong friendships, the community they build, the environmental growth, and so much more.
Each program partners with multiple conservation groups in the area, giving students the chance to engage directly with their projects - whether itās fish tagging, mangrove planting, spearfishing invasive lionfish, or setting up jaguar survey game cams.
At the same time, every program is also a cultural exchange. Two students each week come from the host community, training to become future guides. Together, we share dinners with guides and their families, play local sporting games, and dive into a curriculum that challenges students to explore as travelers, not tourists. One example: students cover a poster board with every question they have about the village, then spend two hours interviewing locals to find their answers.
Itās a dynamic educational experience, and fly fishing is what unites it all. Students spend six hours a day on the water, building their skills as anglers through fun competitions and shared learning.
The nonprofit model ensures accessibility: 20% of students join from low-income households, and another 20% come from the local community. By the end of each program, every student leaves with a stronger sense of confidence, empathy, curiosity, and passion.
This is F4C.

The stats are in and we are proud to know these students, bless them with these well-deserved opportunities, and watch them thrive!!!! Our 501(c)(3) model is aimed to take the financial barrier out of fly fishing and make this a sport of access. Programs are right around the corner and we canāt wait to watch each of our students grow throughout the summer. 50% of our students will be joining us under scholarship across our 4 international locations. Time to build more empathy, curiosity, passion, and confidence in this next generation of global citizens and environmental stewards. Off they go to @flyfishguanaja@soulflylodge@flyfishingcostarica and @the_xflats this summer! Huge thank you to our private donors and corporate partners who help make this magic happen. @duckcampco@looptackle@scientificanglers@orvisflyfishing@yellowdogccf@yeti@yamahaoutboards@turtleboxaudio@skentrockwellfoundation #fishforchange
