#FirstSeat, A Hightable Exclusive: There’s no such thing as being overdressed in Lagos, especially at a traditional wedding. On Friday, friends and family gathered to celebrate the first event in Fisayo Longe (@fisayolonge ) & Folabi Mosuro (@folabi )’s wedding festivies. The hashtag, #NeverGettingMarried, is a tongue-in-cheek nod to Fisayo’s disinterest in marriage – that is, until she met Folabi. As anticipated, the room was filled to the brim with colour: orange and teal for guests; gold and burgundy for the bridal party; and a mix of purple and blues for the couple’s family.
True to the couple’s love for fashion, this wedding had all the makings of a high-art experience for several reasons:
Guests were encouraged to design their custom Kai Collective (@kaicollective ) aso ebi according to the theme: Ojude Oba, “the King’s Forecourt”, an annual celebration held in Ijebu-Ode, a major city in Ogun State.
The wedding reception decor was built around the central feature: a runway where guests catwalked in front of a row of judges, some of the most stylish people in Lagos and walked away with hundreds of dollars to spend at the dedicated Kai Collective merch store.
Naturally, Fisayo & Folabi’s guests nailed the brief.
