A safe place can change everything.
For youth facing abuse, neglect, or trauma, Youth Homes @youthhomesmt provides that place — along with the support to heal and move forward.
On May 14, 2026, we presented a $45,000 grant to Youth Homes to help fund a new Therapeutic Shelter. This investment is part of our partnership with the Federal Home Loan Bank of Des Moines (FHLB Des Moines) and its Member Impact Fund, helping us support organizations doing critical work across Montana.
Since 1971, Youth Homes has helped more than 20,000 children and families build trust, stability, and healthier relationships.
Here’s the impact they’re making:
• Emergency shelters — safe housing during crisis
• Therapeutic group homes — environments focused on growth and healing
• Counseling — support for emotional well-being
• Transitional programs — helping youth build independence
In 2025 alone, they served 369 youth and families and provided nearly 2,500 hours of therapy.
This work is about more than shelter — it’s about helping young people feel safe, find belonging, and build a future they can believe in.
We’re honored to support Youth Homes and the difference they’re making every day.

Healing starts with feeling safe.
At Emma’s House in Hamilton, children who have experienced abuse or neglect are met with care, compassion, and a space designed just for them.
On May 12, our team in Hamilton presented a $9,650 grant to Emma’s House through our partnership with the Federal Home Loan Bank of Des Moines (FHLB Des Moines) and its Member Impact Fund — helping us support organizations doing critical work in our communities.
Emma’s House uses a Child Advocacy Center model to reduce trauma and support both children and their caregivers.
Here’s how they help:
• Forensic interviews — one recorded interview to prevent repeated retelling of trauma
• On-site medical exams — specialized care in a comfortable setting
• Trauma-focused counseling — support for healing and stability
• Child-friendly environment — designed to make a difficult process feel safer
This approach means fewer interviews, less stress, and more support for children when they need it most.
We’re honored to support Emma’s House and the role they play in helping children and families move forward.

Sister Circle Cedar Rapids Coffee and Connection Day!
Being honest, I got so immersed in conversation today, that I didn't get any pictures of the people in the room. 🤪
We had such great discussion about Selling to our Human Design and there was so many great ideas and support for each other! Everyone asked someone else in the room to hold them accountable for action within the next 30 days! ❤️

Homeownership shouldn't be out of reach for the people who make a community run. In the Flathead Valley, Northwest Montana Community Land Trust (NWMTCLT) @nwmtclt is making sure it isn't.
We're excited to share that NWMTCLT, based in Kalispell, MT, received an $8,600 grant through our partnership with the Federal Home Loan Bank of Des Moines (FHLB Des Moines) and its Member Impact Fund — a matching program designed to help community banks stretch their giving even further.
This year, we partnered with FHLB Des Moines to award $718,750 in combined support to 35 nonprofits across Montana. Our $200,000 contribution was matched through the Member Impact Fund, putting more resources directly into the hands of organizations doing vital work.
NWMTCLT's mission is to provide permanently affordable homeownership opportunities for low- and moderate-income families in Northwest Montana — people who are essential to the valley's quality of life. Here's what they're building toward:
• Quality, permanently affordable homes across the Flathead Valley
• Homeownership for low- to moderate-income families and first-time homebuyers
• A growing supply of affordable housing in the region
• A unique model that keeps homes affordable for generations to come
Our team in Kalispell is grateful to stand alongside an organization that's helping families put down roots and build stability in a place they call home.

Every $1 donated to Flathead Food Bank @flatheadfoodbank provides three meals for Montanans facing food insecurity. That's the kind of impact we want behind every dollar we invest.

Flathead Food Bank is on a mission to eliminate hunger in the Flathead Valley by connecting individuals, families, and the community with healthy, nutritious food. Here's a look at the programs making it happen:
• Kalispell Food Pantry — fresh and shelf-stable foods for families in need of a dependable weekly food source
• Mobile Pantry — rotating weekly service reaching communities beyond Kalispell, including Martin City, Hungry Horse, Coram, West Glacier, Kila, Batavia, and Marion
• Backpack Program — discreetly distributed bags of kid-friendly, non-perishable food so students have meals when school-provided options aren't available
• Commodity Supplemental Food Program (CSFP) — a federal program supporting low-income individuals age 60+ with USDA-approved nutritious foods
Our team in Kalispell is grateful to stand alongside an organization that's feeding families and building a stronger Flathead Valley.

25 volunteers in a shared space. That's where Laramie Interfaith @laramie_interfaith started nearly 40 years ago.
Today, more than 200 volunteers help run a food pantry, emergency rent and utility assistance, and programs for families experiencing or at risk of homelessness — all in a county with the highest food insecurity rate in Wyoming.
We're proud to invest in that mission with a $25,000 Believe in Local grant from First Interstate and the First Interstate BancSystem Foundation.
"This grant from First Interstate allows us to do more of what we've done for nearly 40 years: show up for our neighbors with dignity and compassion, whether that means food on the table, help with rent, or a warm coat for a child heading to school," said Josh Wantanabe, Executive Director of Laramie Interfaith.
Nominated by Stephen Grandpre, Financial Consultant, Laramie Interfaith was chosen from more than 640 nominations. Now in its fifth year, Believe in Local awards $25,000 to 40 nonprofits across our 10-state footprint — $1 million given back each year.
