Baustelle (Construction Site) — such is the plain, no-frills name of this exhibition series, which has set itself the task of making young art accessible to a wider audience in Konstanz and beyond.

The opening of the 17th Baustelle was once again a vernissage of a special kind, created by three female artists - Fiona Kaplan, Lucia Otto and Ida Kododji-Traore - all of whom began their artistic careers in the pre-study program at the art school in Meersburg.

Their themes are compelling, taking an in-depth look at the current forces shaping societies. Viewers find themselves drawn, almost involuntarily, into topics such as “cultural participation” and “distance and closeness.” In this way, different perspectives onto other worlds open up as if entirely naturally. Seen that way, for all visitors it was an intense dive into art - looking at it from different angles and with different intentions - much as Yala Spiegel did, who, with her particular eye as an art historian, explained the introduction to this diversity of themes.
Verdict: Exciting - and definitely worth a visit.
