Take me to the River is a set of workshops that challenge participants to consider their relationship to the River Boyne, and is run by @cineal_place and @solsticearts This one features a riverside somatic workshop, flora sketching and a group canvas adjacent to a riparian wetland. These workshops were held in Athboy, Trim, Brú na Bóinne National Park and Brownstown, all of which are in Co. Meath.

Take me to the River is a set of workshops that challenge participants to consider their relationship to the River Boyne, and is run by @cineal_place and @solsticearts Two of my favourite workshops involved learning about riparian butterfly habitats, and listening to the sounds revealed to a buried microphone, generated by life under the ground. These workshops were held in Athboy, Trim, Brú na Bóinne National Park and Brownstown, all of which are in Co. Meath.

Take me to the River is a wonderful set of workshops that challenge participants to consider their relationship to the River Boyne, and is run by @cineal_place and @solsticearts I loved watching the participants listen to the sounds of the underground, or copying the patterns of a storm-felled tree trunk. These workshops were held in Athboy, Trim, Brú na Bóinne National Park and Brownstown, all of which are in Co. Meath.

I was really happy to get to work on Take me to the River again last year. It’s a wonderful set of workshops that challenge participants to consider their relationship to the River Boyne, and is run by @cineal_place and @solsticearts I loved watching the participants get completely sucked into the workshops, adding whatever they wanted to a group canvas in response to their time by the river - drawings, paintings, personal statements, whatever! These workshops were held in Athboy, Trim, Brú na Bóinne National Park and Brownstown, all of which are in Co. Meath.

Here are some favourites from two projects over 2025. 1 - It was great to get to work on Take me to the River again this year. It’s a wonderful set of workshops that asks participants to consider their relationship to the River Boyne. It’s run by @cineal_place and @solsticearts . I loved watching the participants get completely immersed in the workshops. 2 - From the same set of workshops, this is a shot of a circular canvas at Dowth estate which is now part of Brú na Bóinne National Park. People added whatever they wanted to the canvas in response to their time by the river - drawings, personal statements, whatever! This was also included in the @shopthegarden BOG exhibition in the autumn, curated by @cianamarch 3 - Here’s one of my favourites from Building a (Draw)Bridge where I documented the building of a playful and colourful drawbridge into @kunstverein_aughrim . The drawbridge was designed by Jenny and her team at @_howff_ Architects, and Kate, the director of Kunstverein was the driving force behind it all. 4 - From the same project, Eamonn at @art_dept_studio then designed a wonderful zine which we launched recently as part of @irish_designweek . Included in this was an interview that I conducted between Jenny and Kate about the themes behind the project. Thanks to everyone that I’ve worked with over 2025!

Here are some more images from a recent project with @kunstverein_aughrim @_howff_ and @art_dept_studio . I documented the building of a playful and colourful drawbridge into the Kunstverein. The drawbridge was designed by Jenny and her team at HOWFF Architects as part of a project exploring the accessibility of the Kunstverein building, and the zine was designed by Eamonn at Art Dept Studio. Kate, the director of Kunstverein was the driving force behind it all. I photographed the process and also held an interview with Kate and Jenny, both of which are published in the zine. The interview is also available to read on my website.

This evening, as part of @irish_designweek , we are launching a zine about about a drawbridge-making workshop that was held last year at @kunstverein_aughrim , Co. Wicklow. We’re also going to have a chat about some of the themes that emerged as part of the project. The drawbridge was designed by @_j_o__l_ and her team at @_howff_ as part of a project exploring the accessibility of the Kunstverein building, and the zine was designed by @ehgd.xyz at @art_dept_studio . Kate, the director of Kunstverein was the driving force behind it all. I photographed the process and also held an interview with Kate and Jenny, both of which are published in the zine.

This is currently part of @shopthegarden BOG exhibition in the Powerscourt Centre, which runs until the 9th November. Great to be a part of it, thanks @cianamarch I shot this as part of a project with @cineal_place and @solsticearts earlier in the year, in the new part of the Brú na Bóinne national park. The circle was constructed next to the River Boyne by @phoebe_brady and is a canvas that people drew and painted onto, based on what they felt about their time in this special landscape.

I’m starting to think about a new project in a similar spirit to Threading Place and have been revisiting the imagery from two years ago. I’m going to post some of my favourites and say a few words about them. This is Rita, who was the first person that I photographed for this project. I met Rita whilst I was out walking in the woods one day, sometime into the first year of covid when there was just a bit more time to go off wandering in the woods. I asked her to be part of this project, and to my surprise she agreed. Rita chose to be photographed in a place called Clara Vale, which is on the river Avonmore, has a cluster of old cottages, a little church and a school that has long since closed down. It’s a beautiful place. A lot of local people use this stretch of the river to swim in, and it was here that Rita taught her own children to swim. Threading Place was a collaboration with @cineal_place and was supported by @wicklowcountyartsoffice It was about how people in County Wicklow are socially connected and was exhibited over three outdoor sites in Wicklow Town, featuring portrait imagery and audio interviews with location sounds.
