Last week I had the absolute honor to photograph the âOne Million Mealsâ dinner for Sharing Excess â a nonprofit that started right here in Philadelphia by two college classmates who saw just how much perfectly good food was being thrown away every single day.
What started with rescuing excess food from local produce markets and food banks has grown into a national organization redistributing surplus food from farms, wholesalers, grocery stores, restaurants, and events to communities that need it most.
The dinner itself was a celebration of the sponsors and partners helping make that impact possible, and it was made even more special through the partnership with Chef Nok and Kalaya, who graciously hosted an incredible evening centered around community, hospitality, and impact. The food, the atmosphere, and the people in the room all felt like a perfect reflection of what Sharing Excess is trying to accomplish.
It also got me thinking about our own events industry.
We work in an industry built around hospitality, abundance, and incredible experiences⌠but we also see firsthand how much food can be left over at the end of an event. However, I do think the conversation around waste is slowly starting to shift. More planners, venues, caterers, and organizations are thinking about donation programs, composting and how to keep good food from ending up in a landfill.
One stat from the evening really stuck with me: food loss and waste account for roughly 8â10% of global greenhouse gas emissions â nearly five times the emissions from the aviation industry.

Thatâs kind of hard to wrap your head around.
Huge respect to Victoria Wilson and Evan Ehlers at Sharing Excess for proving that solving a massive problem can start with something surprisingly simple: noticing whatâs being wasted and deciding to do something about it.
Philadelphia should be incredibly proud this started here.
A couple weeks ago I had the opportunity to collaborate with Steak 48 and Cashman & Associates for the Hospitality & Event Planner Showcase.
In just a few afternoon hours, the Steak 48 team managed to completely wow the event industry crowd with their space, hospitality, food, and attention to detail. Always fun getting to capture events that remind you why guest experience matters so much.
Thanks to Liana Sinh, @unforgettabletouchesbytiara , Jim Cohn at Mid-Atlantic Events Magazine and Showorks Audio-Visual, Inc. - collaborating with you all was amazing, as always.
Had a great time today with @acctphilly . All of these cutie pies are available for adoption! Thanks to Kristin with @charmed_studios for the absolute gorgeous florals!
A last-minute call turned into one of those events youâre really glad you said yes to.
This week I photographed the MPI MEETs Conference at Caesars Atlantic City, and it was filled with incredible people, great conversations, and a lot of memorable moments.
Iâm always in awe of the warm welcome I receive while navigating this new region, and Iâm excited to soon become an affiliate member of the MPI New Jersey Chapter!
Grateful for this community. â¨

Photographing the MDPI Salon in Philadelphia last week đ
A day of education and discussion around open-access publishing â and a celebration of MDPIâs new Philadelphia office opening.
Always love capturing events where ideas and collaboration are the focus.

During Black History Month, Iâm reflecting on voices that continue to shape meaningful leadership.
Sisonke Msimang is one of them and I had the honor of photographing her keynote speech several years ago.
A South African writer, political analyst, and activist, her work explores race, feminism, democracy, and belonging. She challenges audiences to move beyond surface-level conversations and into deeper accountability and action.
Black voices are essential in shaping more thoughtful, inclusive spaces â and Black womenâs voices, in particular, bring perspectives that have too often been underrepresented.
Her message feels just as relevant today. In a complex and often divided world, her emphasis on empathy, critical thinking, and intentional inclusion continues to resonate across generations.
Black History Month is not only about honoring the past, but about supporting voices that lead with courage, compassion, and a vision for bringing people together.

Attending PCMA Convening Leaders for the first time last week was a reminder of how expansiveâand surprisingly tight-knitâthe global events community really is.
Between meeting new people from around the world and reconnecting with familiar faces, the conversations stood out most. Not just what we do, but why we do itâhow intentional design, thoughtful leadership, and strong visual storytelling all come together to shape meaningful experiences.
Hosting Convening Leaders here in Philadelphia made it even more special. Seeing my city welcome so many industry leadersâand feeling the energy it brought to the local events sceneâwas something I wonât forget. Philly showed up and delivered.
What Iâm taking with me most is a renewed appreciation for collaboration: planners, partners, creatives, and storytellers working together to elevate events beyond logistics and into something people genuinely connect with.
If youâre thinking about future conferences, brand activations, or experiences where visuals and storytelling matter, Iâd love to connect and explore what we could create togetherâwhether thatâs in Philly or beyond. #PCMACL
The best photos arenât always posed or planned. They happen in the in-between â the laughter, the quick exchange, the genuine connection. Thatâs where the real story lives.

Happy National Candy Day! đŹ
Fresh off Halloween, it only feels right to keep the sugar rush going đ A full candy wall and cotton candy station by @curbsideconfections brought instant nostalgia and smiles all around â proof that the smallest details can make the biggest impact.
Hereâs to the event pros who know how to mix creativity, fun, and a little sweetness into every experience.

What a night with Latitude Legal at Harp & Crown during the Association of Corporate Counsel (ACC) Annual Meeting in Philadelphia!
This wasnât your typical networking event â Latitude went all in with an aura reader, mentalist, bowling, and even a candy wall and cotton candy maker for a playful twist.
The result? A room full of connections, laughter, and moments that perfectly blended professionalism with personality.
Grateful to capture the energy of a night where the corporate world let loose â and to document Latitudeâs creative approach to building meaningful relationships.
This week is Addiction Treatment Week, and I couldnât think of a better time to share a few moments from the AATOD 2025 Conference I photographed in Philadelphia. đ
So many of the speakers, counselors, and therapists who took the stage were in recovery themselves â people whoâve overcome addiction and are now using their experiences to help others heal. Listening to their stories of loss, hope, and second chances was incredibly moving.
Their strength is a reminder that recovery is not only possible â itâs happening every day.

Happy 250th U.S. Navy Birthday! âď¸
Today we honor not only the sailors and aviators whoâve defended our seas and skies â but also the visionaries who paved the way. Meet Lt. Carey Lohrenz: the first woman to fly the legendary F-14 Tomcat. In 1993, she earned her Wings of Gold and broke barriers aboard the USS Abraham Lincoln â accomplishments forged under pressure and performed with precision.
From Mach-2 fighter pilot to bestselling author and keynote speaker, Carey now teaches businesses how to lead fearlessly, stay resilient, and rise to the moment.
And thereâs something especially meaningful about celebrating this milestone here in Philadelphia â the birthplace of both the U.S. Navy and the U.S. Marine Corps. As Americaâs founding port of service and sacrifice, the city is commemorating these 250 years of courage and commitment all month long.
On this Navy Birthday, letâs salute the spirit that launched our nationâs defenders â past, present, and those yet to come.
