@for.example.john.band over in Poland release the second single “Nothing Will Change”, from their upcoming album “failed as a friend”. The track dynamically shifts from a close up and personal opening into a broad, wide and impactful ending, setting itself up for what follows on the record.

@jerkcurb recently released “Night Fishing On a Calm Lake”, and I had the pleasure of recording some bits on it a few years back! We had a great day in a barn out in rural Norfolk tracking loads of stuff.

I’ve spent lots of my day cleaning up some bits in some tracks before going in to master them. Contrary to popular belief, mastering is more than just “turning it up”!
Sometimes little pops, clicks, mouth noises, or other artefacts make their way into songs, and are often missed before sending to master! The mastering process can even bring out sounds like this that weren’t noticeable in the mix, so a quick run through @izotopeinc RX before mastering the file in @steinbergmedia Wavelab is always useful!

I love how varied the work of being a freelancer can be. Sure, you find yourself doing a lot of stuff you might not have expected, but you get to learn things - like how to code and maintain a website! I made some updates to it today before cracking on with work.
