AFTER TWO YEARS HES DONE OH MY GOD Got photos back from Maddi and am in love ughh 😍. This cosplay ended up being so expensive (bcuz I kept needing more fabric) that I don’t really want to calculate it but it mightve given Claude a run for his money. But I wanted to use silk for the outer layer which would have been more historically authentic. Also woohoo shoutout to @raikkuno for the wig comm everyone clap. Samurai Deeper Kyo ran from 1999 to 2008. When I was reading this series, I bought each copy from the bookstore and I barely had internet. I didn’t know that conventions happened anywhere other than the east and west coasts or that liking anime would ever be mainstream. Akira was one of the first characters that I really saw myself in without confusing it for a crush. He’s tenacious and a perfectionist. Nothing comes easily for him. There is no “talent”. Instead, his entire character arc is about earning every single skill and achievement through hard work. Before reading SDK, I hadn’t ever seen a character like that. I felt like I finally had my own struggles reflected back at me. Cosplaying Akira was nearly 20 years in the making. I spent so many years loving his character, then finally managed to find his cosplay secondhand back in 2018. It took me another 3-4 years of steady alterations between other projects before I finally finished him. everyone say thank u sabrina carpenter festival season 🫶 📸 beautiful lovely @final_egirl (whose birthday was yesterday !!) here are five fun facts nobody asked for about my brina fit: - there are over 25,000 rhinestones between the two boots. I had never done a rhinestone project before this one but I found a base pair on Mercari for $13 in my size and here we are now. I blame @hannibananicosplay entirely - my reference folder for poses and her outfits was (at the time) 184 pictures long. I think I have over 400 now. this is across 3 festivals and both emails + short n sweet tours (+ eras opener) - the friendship bracelet is lyrics from “bet u wanna” from emails I can’t send (my fav sab album) (I could genuinely talk for hours about this album and her music as a whole). I made a ton of different friendship bracelets from EICS and SnS to give out and was super super inspired by the bracelet trading from the swifties & eras tour ! - I had the hardest time deciding on fabric combos but ultimately I do like the satin with stoned trim now. I might remake it with a glitter mesh + stone extra embellishments to it for dragoncon. not currently sure what’s happening there (I follow where the sabrina muse takes me) - I really can’t thank Sabrina and her music enough for reigniting the spark and love I have for artistic expression.
