Looking at these 2016 photos is a reality check. That year was one of the most fun of my life, but it’s also a reminder that body dysmorphia has been my shadow for a long time. I spent years starving myself just to feel like I deserved to be loved or accepted by others.
Today my body is imperfect and feels a bit broken, but I’m grateful for it. It has carried me to places my 2006 self never imagined we would see. I still have days where it’s hard to look in the mirror, but I know that in 10 years I’ll look at photos of today and realize my mind was lying to me again.
